At the very least, there are no manga marked both Ecchi and Shoujo, though there seems to be a decent amount of manga marked Shoujo and Smut... which I find odd, if anything I'd expect it the other way around, but okay.

I assume that no one in the manga industry is willing to consider the possibility that women might enjoy fanservice to a degree that would merit calling the work ecchi :-/

Still, I'm sick of how... sad, impossible to enjoy, ecchi-entailing shounen manga is, and I've been curious if perhaps shoujo equivalent might be any better, since female-audience lewdness almost inevitably tends to be vastly superior in quality.

So, is such a thing out there? I'm not looking for hentai, and I would prefer to avoid yaoi or yuri, each for different reasons.

Thanks for reading.

Most shoujo that have "ecchi" are just usually straight up smut with lots of sex scenes. So use the shoujo and smut tags in search.

If it's cheesecake you're looking for (with a little less stupid story content) I'd suggest looking at possibilities falling into the seinen demographic...

https://www.mangaupdates.com/series.html?perpage=50&ge nre=Ecchi_Seinen&display=list

There's a boatload of that out there.......a few of the ones I'd at least recommend would be Avant-garde Yumeko, Comic Studio, Hakodate Youjin Buraichou Himegami, Haru to Natsu, Ichinensei ni Nacchattara, Kangoku Gakuen, Koimoku, Umi no Misaki........like I said, there's a bunch of it out there, and by and large you'll find better story content in seinen.

And yeah, I read plenty of shoujo, just, yeah, you ain't gonna get no ecchi in shoujo works, just romance, the ecchi just doesn't fly with the demographic (Josei included by the way).

Use the Smut or Adult genre + comedy while searing. Someone once decided that female ecchi type publications should be gendered with Smut instead, as they tend to be a bit different.
The scene then agreed. Meaning that male demographic series with Smut applied are as mistagged as female ones with Ecchi. The end.

There literally thousands of sex manga for women, especially due to the porn webcomic explosion of this decade and magazines specifically for that. "Cheese" is such a Shoujo magazine one for example.

I would also like to add to the subject there there are hundreds of very sexual "ecchi" and hentai works which are done by women.

Blatant fanservice geared towards females (or otherwise, namely all admirers of the male body)? Adekan is probably the best fit I can think of.

The art is beautiful, and for all the fanservice the plot is compelling and darker than one would initially expect.

Funnily enough, it doesn't give a single hint of this ecchi feature in the genre nor main category tags, so I daresay many unsuspecting readers have gotten shellshock stumbling over it without warning.

Shoujo 'ecchi' goes by another name, to keep the 'young girls' safe.

It's called josei smut. So smut is basically ecchi for shoujos. I guess the girls just don't want to be associated with 'ecchi' lol To keep the illusion of innocence i guess

And if you're thinking about just fan service. It's the bishies being splashed with water scenes. The direct translation goes something like

shoujo language -> shounen
Bishie splashed with water -> Loli's panty shot

So I scoured my list, which is 99% shoujo and if you're looking for like straight up guys with their shirts off in shoujo there's: Hatsukoi Body

There are also tons of reverse harems which are kinda the same vein such as Touken Ranbu, Uta no Prince Sama, Kokoro ni Hana o!! , etc

No, ecchi equivalent in shoujo is SMUT. Totally automatic harmless sex scene I guess

An erotic shoujo becomes a smutty josei, I think, just as user F_J said.
You can try either smut or josei genre.
Or, even better, try this link that has both genres combined.

Josei has many shoujo-like stories that are strongly erotic.

Examples of popular mangas of this kind:

25-sai no Joshikousei
Amai Choubatsu - Watashi wa Kanshu Sen'you Pet
Omiai Aite wa Oshiego, Tsuyoki na, Mondaiji.
Shuudengo, Capsule Hotel de, Joushi ni Binetsu Utawaru Yoru.
Skirt no Naka wa Kedamono deshita.
Souryo to Majiwaru Shikiyoku no Yoru ni...

I enjoy this type of romantic writing, btw, and I think it's the closest thing to what you describe.

Edit: Just wanted to add a personal favorite of mine (which is also completely scanlated): Ero Meruhen - Ningyohime.

Thanks for all the replies folk, I'll look at your suggestions later 🙂

That said, I just thought that I'd add that I'm a guy and sadly an admirer of women only. I just cannot stand the way shounen ecchi basically present women as these clumsy dimwitted innocent socially submissive pieces of eyecandy.. I'm maybe hyperboling a little, but I just can't stand most of those manga, I've actually dropped otherwise good works for these reasons.

I'm not really sure if I'm expecting to find anything really fun here, more just curious.

Regardless, once again thanks 🙂

Then why are you reading ecchi material when the sole reason behind it IS for the girls to serve as eye candy?

Mmmm, yeah, it just sounds to me like you need to upgrade the level of your reading material is all. Try cutting back on the (sweaty teenage boy) shounen and try some more adult-targeted seinen works 🙂

Sad news for you: smutty Josei also presents naive cute girls (they all are 18+, but they still being nice and somewhat submissive -most of them-). Japanese tend to like that standard type of females regardless of the gender of the mangaka. The main difference is that in this kind of stories the main male has the characteristics of a shoujo hero and it's better written from a female point of view: he's good-looking and has a better impact and chemistry with the main girl (like a shoujo with erotic elements). The nudity and fanservice these stories have, though, are more focused on the main male rather than the main girl (because publishers are aware these mangas are read by women, mostly. It's similar to what happens in yaoi stories, the same moe phenomenon).

Take svines85's suggestion and look for seinen stories to get something that fits more your criteria. 😉
