Yes, I can and I have.
Crows is a good example. It's actually pretty good.

I think it depends on what you mean by "no girls"
If it's no girls whatsoever cus they "cheapen the experience by having them be rescued by the guys all the time", then yeah, I can live without having girls in a story...I hate useless girls that are always hindering the guy cus they get in the way because the guy has to constantly be fawning/worrying about them, but if it's just "because girls don't belong" type of thing, then, I think I'd be a bit weird having an all-male cast...but I can live with a shonen where the girl dissapears from the story for long periods of time

Depends on the manga, I think Yes, but some of shonen can be better with girls in it.

there should be a balance between boys and girls in the story
i'd rather read something which has both
but if the story's good i dont mind

edit : i read very little shounen anyway, coz most of them have harem or ecchi
and if it doesnt then it would most probably be endless fighting or fighting evil or saving the world etc etc
i prefer seinen...most seinen have girls in them and they tend to have important roles/personalities that make the story interesting

That pretty much explained my policy too.

No girls = Twice the fun.

like akaji, kaiji, crows, tough, one outs,... the list goes on

Girls > Boys = bad
Girls = Boys = good
Girls < Boys = good
If there is more girls than boys it almost always ends up in moe pantsu quest.

i think shounen should have some girls in it but not the timid and weak kind where they always have to be protected. the girls who are capable of defending themselves, maybe have learnt a sport that involves attacking and defending is a bonus and should definitely be added to shounen manga biggrin

but in my opinion, more boys than girls is much more enjoyable smile

I'm fine with it. If it's a good read, then I don't really care.

Yeh, I mostly prefer it without girls, in most cases they complain too much...

wait, if their are little to no girls, then isn't that shounen-ai or boys love, if so then HELL NO. the only manga I've read with this type of scenario was 07-ghost, I seriously didn't know this was BL at the time, but I did notice a huge lack of girls, (the only ones that were emphisized on was a robot and a strange looking mermaid) and I droped this as soon as the best friend said "I love you" when he died. (literally didn't go a page further)

Naruto- This manga really borderlined there, but since I don't pay BL any attention I never even noticed it. (I didn't notice until I read a post on this site and really thought about it)

Depends on the girls, I think.
I don't mind a bit of romantic subtext (Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles) or when the girls turn out to be hellishly strong (Yankee-kun to Megane-chan). In fact, girls with character are quite welcome.

The point where it becomes that every chapter girls are kidnapped, held hostage, crying and pleading for mercy, saying "how could you have done this!?" or otherwise screw everything up... well.

well if the story is interesting enough to keep me from thinking about the girls! but it's hard to find this kind of manga.

If that's what the writer wants to do then I'm fine with it. Most of Dai's quest or Bio meat necter, or death note would have been good if the few girls were boys and if some of the romance had been dropped(Dai's quest did create an interesting situation with a group of its secondary characters). Still, if you like the characters and can relate to them, its fine if there's a romance that doesn't detract from the story.

And of course, I don't think girl characters distract from the story, but what a writer might do with them could, especially if he's trying to fanservice too much. I'm not just talking about panty shots but just adding the character types and being too cliche about them, especially when it isn't in a humour comic.

So yeah not only can I bear it, I probably wouldn't notice since I concentrate on what is there, in a good, enjoyable story.
