like the title says Im looking for a manga similar to Shingeki no Kyojin, i want the apcalyptic aspects of humanity fighting for their survival against some being more powerful than them, and if possible a romantic subplot.

I started reading Shingeki no Kyojin after this. Rather interesting. =D
I'm not sure if Alive: Saishuu Shinkateki Shounen fits what you're asking for. It's pretty apocalyptic in a sense?
Other somewhat apocalyptic styled series:
20th Century Boys (I really liked this one)
Deadman Wonderland
Kiseijuu
Bokurano (haven't read this one, so nt sure)

You know, something like RahXephon, Gantz, Evangelion or even Psyren could easily fit your description. And those are just the more popular ones.

Shingeki no Kyojin is pretty much medieval Gantz.
Perhaps also consider Cannon God Exaxxion - though to a lesser extent.

thank you for the suggestion, I was already tempted to try reading alive but I wasnt too sure if it was any good so I was putting that though a little on hold but maybe Ill now start reading it
btw thank you for trying to put series with either a romantic "main plot" or a romantic subplot.
