Wouldn't this make a great poll?
I prefer downloading. I like seeing the pages' every detail across my screen. Also when viewing on a website you have keep loading each page I wanna read chapters at my pace, not my current internet speed.

Download. When it's already on my computer, I'm not subject to the whims of the internet. I don't have to wait for each page to load. Once I finish reading a manga, I can delete it from my hard drive to conserve space.

I download manga most of the times. I don't like to read online because it takes time to load 1 page fully. With Cdisplay as a viewer for downloaded manga, I can read scanlation full screen with the best quality.

Download, always, for the same reasons others have said. No waiting for page loads, and then I can read it whenever I want on my computer, even if my internet dies or I'm using the only ethernet port in my dorm room for something else. I have a huge hard drive so space isn't a problem for me.
I had good antivirus installed, and barely ever used Mangafox (only when I could only find what I wanted to read there, which pretty much never happens) and I still got a virus from Mangafox. I didn't know it was from there until I saw someone else on these forums talk about the exact same virus. It screwed up the computer completely and we had to wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows.
If opening each image and enlarging it is the only reason you read online, just download a decent image viewing program. There are tons out there that remove all that hassle and give you loads of options to customise your reading experience... I think there's a thread somewhere here where people name which one they use.

Get a better image viewer.
And before anybody asks, there's already a thread for that.

i read online most of the time, but sometimes i download when there is no chapter on the reader yet...or some not-so-mainstream manga,or old one...i just don't see any point of piling it all on my hard...if u can get it on the net wherever u want...

No online reader can ever compete with CDisplay.
Read online, and when it's completed than download and collect.

Download. I tend to re-read my favorite manga. And also for easy refresher specially for those that are released with long intervals. I do erase it after the manga's completed and just keep favorites.

No... but there's still a noticeable lag between loading pages, while there is no lag whatsoever when reading offline. Besides, at any one time there's usually something else competing for your bandwidth - another download, other open pages, online games, whatever. I often have other downloads running and that makes online reading even slower.
I also don't take it for granted that I'm always going to have access to the internet, and I most certainly don't take it for granted that scanlated manga will always be freely available on the web.

I mostly download, it's more comfortable for me when it comes to reading.

i read online. i hate it when a manga is download only, but if i really want to read it i'll download it. i don't really see the point in taking up so much space on my hard drive with manga, especially if its a manga that you're reading for the first time and aren't sure how much you're going to like it.
and i didn't know before that there are mangareaders that you can download for your computer. but i probably still wouldn't download them because of the hard drive issue.

I always used to download manga but I always seem to catch some kind of virus and messing up my comp. So from now on I won't download ever again.
I prefer downloading though. No load time, better quality and with CDisplay you never have any problem reading amnga at all.

Don't really read that much manga these days, but when I do, it's mostly by download via IRC or DDL. Unless it's some stupid (usually shoujo) scan group that insists on joining their retarded forum and making a gazillion posts before DDL links pop-up, in which case I just find an online reader or forget the manga altogether.
