I slowly got into anime when I was a little kid. To be honest, I unknowingly got into anime when I was watching shows on Nickelodeon (the old Nickelodeon), or actually Nick, Jr with my older brother and little sister. By then, I have watched shows like Grimm's Fairy Tale Classics, Maya the Bee, Noozles, Adventures of the Little Koala, or The Lil'Bits. During that time, I had absolutely no idea that those shows were actually anime (old, though) until I have a computer with internet and later on became a senior in high school.
I "actually" got into anime (again, and stll a kid, but older) and recognized it with when I watched the anime movie, Unico. A complete classic that always enjoy and always made me cry. And then later on, I was got back into anime (...again, along with brother and sister) by watching Tenchi Muyo and on Saturday Morning cartoon programs.
As for manga, my little sister hooked me into the deep by first letting me read "Wish," by Clamp. I was intrigued with manga that I somehow refused to give my sister her "Wish'" Manga back. My sister told and introduced me to Waldenbooks and it was there that my manga splurging began with Ragnarok (a manwha) and Rave Master, as well as a few other titles.

I've been watching Anime for as long as I can recall. Of course, I didn't know what ti was back then, they were just those cartoons 'with the nice art'.
As for Manga, I started reading that about two years back when a local bookshop had a 2 for 1 offer on Manga. I'd adored the art style for a long time, so figured I'd 'just buy one'. Naturally, I was back within a few days to empty my pockets in exchange for my 'fix'

Well, it started with just the toonami line up and adult swim.
Then beginning of freshman year of hs i started to take more interest in anime/manga that wasnt so mainstream and then my path of becoming an otaku began...
I dont regret any of it.

I got hooked on anime a few years ago, when my bro came home with Full metal panic, Gantz and Excel saga and on manga last year when one of the Multimedia Shops in Croatia, Algoritam, started selling it

Sometime below seven...I just can't exactly remember. However, it was dubbed stuff on TV at the time. I really got into it when I was about 10 or 11.

My first was "Star Blazers" somewhere around when I was 4 or 5, then Robotech and Sailor Moon. There was dry spell for me between college and grad school, because as and engineering student, I did not have free time. After I graduated, anime re-entered my life starting with Crest of Stars. I really didn't get into manga until about 5-years ago. I started with "Love Hina" and "Chobits."

Hm...
Well, I think my first anime was either Tenshi Muyo or Outlaw Star, followed very quickly by Rurouni Kenshin and Dragonball Z... I was late to the scene; I was about nine-ish...
As for manga, I think my first was Demon Diary. It was either that or Inuyasha... I really hope it was the former, though. ><; I think I read my first one when I was twelve-ish...

My first anime (I don't count Pokemon, and Dragonball (witch I saw in german and I didn't understand that - and because of my age (10?) I thought about it as "some weird fairy tale")) was Ghost in the Shell. I saw some documentary series about animation and there was a word about it, it fixed me...and result:
GitS -> Hellsing -> NGE -> Noir -> Cowboy Bebop -> hundreds of others...

Got hooked on anime after Macross made it to the U.S. TV as Robotech in the early eighties and never forgot about it even during the anime dark age that pretty much followed. Only got to see the Macross portion and bits of the Souther Cross portions. Never woke up early enough to see the Invid Invasion and Sentinels portions. Got hooked on manga after reading Doraemon. I was re-hooked much later by Clamp's X/2000.
