While this is true as a general rule, there ARE exceptions, like True Tears and Shuffle.

In True Tears The main character, Shinichiro, is basically floating between two girls, Hirono and Noe. While Hirono gets more screentime in the first episode, she is seen as "unattainable," and loves someone else. She's treated similarly to Kaname as far as attainability goes. Also, Noe's "curse" on Shinichiro dictates the entire first episode, and Shinichiro often reflects on it. So in essence, Noe gains as much focus through references as Hirono does from screentime. Shinichiro goes back to Noe to convince her to lift the "curse" (which isn't real), and Noe eventually becomes fascinated with him, and needs him much more than Hirono. Most of the series focuses on the relationship between Noe and Shinichiro.

Oh yes, and Shuffle is a pretty famous example. The first girl who appears with the main protagonist is Kaede, and we get an extensive background on her before anyone else appears. She has an insane obsession for taking care of him, and she actually says "I live for you" in the first episode. Yet she does NOT end up with him....IT'S THE RETURN OF THE CRACK PLOT TWIST!!!

The kind of "first focus" only applies to series where the relationship outcome is obvious. In the past, most of us would quickly assume that Yuuki would end up with Zero, but now we don't know who she'll end up with.

Well honestly, Kaname and Yuuki seem perfect, but it's just not. First of all, they are brother and sister. Plus, Zero is the one who is always there for her. She's been there for him and they've known each other since yuuki was about 11. I'm pretty sure zero loves her. I can just tell. As much as I love Kaname, I think Zero and Yuuki are the better couple.

He's not THAT emo, and the reason he is, is because he hates vampires. He lost his family to a vampire who turned HIM into a vampire. He hates what he has become and he's been fighting it for 4 years. Now he hates himself. He's a vampire hunter, but he's a vampire himself. How do you think that makes him feel? Plus, he's the lowest of the low. Any time now, zero will fall to a level E. He's got no chance (although I'm sure as they put out more chapters, SOMETHING will happen) of ever becoming anything else. I feel so bad for him. He thinks drinking blood is disgusting, but he has to anyway. I mean, can you imagine? He hunts his own kind. He comes from a family of vampire hunters and he has to live up to that no matter what. He has no choice. Poor zero!

I also think Zero is the better choice because he loves her for her. If Yuuki was never a pureblood, would Kaname still love her? I think he just needs her to keep the purebloods going. She would do anything to protect Zero, and as much as zero needs her blood, he wouldn't do anything to hurt her. his love for her isn't that obvious, such as kaname's is, but i think zero truly loves her. i still love kaname but its just too weird.

I actually think the first person we see is Kaname rescuing Yuki. If that is your theory, also we see kaname more in the beginning of chapter one. But Zero is the main man since he is the knight. But there are always more than one main characters. The other one is also kaname and we actually knew he liked yuki before zero since he always said she was his most important person. He also liked yuki longer ever since she was born(since she was his fiance and he was raised with her). and he still liked yuki when she was human he even didn't want to turn her into a vampire(or her remembering being one) but he had to. to keep her safe. Also while yuki is trying to make zero feel better her mind is constantly on kaname. She never even thought she might like zero more than friendship and such(though she might like him more than that but not as much as kaname, she liked him since she was 5), in fushigi yugi she realized she liked tamahome from the beginning.


I disagree it is not weird between kaname and yuki at all. Kaname would still love yuki even if she was not a pureblood since he has mentioned loved her for her cheerfulness and liking him for who he is not his pureblood status. She would also do anything to protect kaname also. Zero has hurt her he even caused her to faint. Kaname also truly loves her by having all his plans revolve around her. He also killed a pureblood which is considered taboo for her sake.
I am a yuki and kaname fan so yeah to them! Kaname is not evil he is trying to get rid of rido for once and for all while trying to protect yuki.

there's seems to be alot of inevitable hard reference b/w Zero x Yuki. For Kaname x Yuki, though Kaname did alot for her, it doesn't exactly standout.

But if Matsuri Hiro sums up Kaname's sacrifice in a package and release all of them at once for impact at the end, i think Kaname x Yuki can be plausible.

Well i hope it turns out Kaname x Yuki though, its just more dreamy. The whole concept that from birth they were born in love with eachother. It's so sweet.

But in some shojo series heroine fighting "fate" kinda idea reoccurs. I hope it doesn't happen here! or i'm gonna crawl into a box and cry.. T.T

I personally like yuki and zero better,, there are some reasons but I think they fit each other so much

I honestly think Kaname is better as a guy than Zero because Zero gets really annoying at times but in terms of couple I would prefer ZeroxYuki.

since i love Zero, I voted for Zero+Yuuki. They look cute together...
As for Kaname and Yuuki--well, I just don't think they will end up together even though Yuuki

I don't really like Yuuki, so I'd prefer if she ended up with neither of them. But if I had to choose, I'd choose Zero because he loves her so much. Hell, just make it a shounen-ai and have a ZeroxKaname couple! -fangirls- But I like the ShikixRima one best.

I absolutely adore this couple! They're my favorite!

I don't really mind Zero/Yuuki or Kaname/Yuuki, just as long as the series ends happily for all of them. I don't really think it will, but I do hope it does!

wow.... for me i will go for yuuki x zero... because i think they arer meant for each other... yuuki doesnt only knew that she was already had a feeling for zero... in the early chapter... yuuki was always unto kaname but everything she does was a sacrifice for zero... anyways... i hope in the end both of them will end up each other...

Agree 100%. Zero is way nicer than Kaname because he is sincere. No pretends, his actions match his thinking.

I say GO KANAMExYUKI!!!!!!!! I know many people out there say that Zero is better for Yuki, but I personally think Kaname is better. Kaname is better as he would do anything for YUki's sake. In fact, he killed a pureblood for her! However, the storyline seems to now lean toward Zero instead of Kaname. BOO! It's so not fair.......:'(



I would totally cry too if it turned out that way.
