For girls I like those quiet,reserved but with a strong will and personality like Maho Izawa from KareKano or Kae Ogawa from Kiss. I also like funny/artless/candid girls like Eimi from Bijo ga Yajuu or Yotsuba from Yotsubato or Nan woo from You're so cool! Surprisingly I also like Tohru Honda...she's so pure.

For males I like the crazy/bad boy types. Like most girls I'm afflicted with "the good-girls-fall-for-the-bad-boys-syndrome" 😮

I would like to mention I'm quite of fond of heroines who are complete airheads and yet too awesome for words. Hikari from Special A would be one. I commend her stupidity. xD

And bonus points for sarcasm. Rahzel from Hatenkou Yuugi && Ishtar from Vampire Game would be examples in which by the way are two of my favourite shoujo heroines. :3

I like Special A and Kaichou wa Maid-sama and i find in both manga, the male lead and female lead are quite similar. Kei=Usui and Hikari=Misaki, both male character are the strong type, not the kind that easily fall prey to conspiracy or some manipulative bastard while both female lead are strong character that aren't simple pushover.

In romance shoujos, I like non-pushover girls with a backbone, and don't burst into tears every few seconds. I also like it the girl has a flaw that is rude/arrogant/selfish and tries to overcome that.

I like shoujo characts with a bit of nerve, like Makino Tsukushi from Hana Yori Dango, or the main character in Beauty Pop and even the main character in Koukou Debut! I really hate the type of girl that is portrayed in Kare First Love not to mention that idiot from Bokura Ga Ita...

Cheerful, upbeat characters. Boy or girl, it doesn't matter. And with no secret dark past to mess things up later like they did with Kairi in Peach Girl.

The loner/outcast. That's not very imaginative as I personally am a loner. I appreciate the idea of being alone to a great extent and those out-going type of people just scare me off.

Exactly or someone like the girl in Monkey high but I guess the former is more intriguing- i like confident beautiful girl or if they are a no nonsense-not impressed kinda girl like Haruhi in Ouran and the main in beauty pop..

for guys, I love lovable bouncy guys- like Kirei Okayasu in peach girl though exceptions like Hayama in kodocha exist..but I like wen the guy is either a playboy-funloving or if silent then he should be the one in love coz I like the secret protectiveness... 😀

i like the trong, independant, i-don't-need-a-guy,-but-it's-fine-if-i-have-one kinda characters. Yhe ones whose lives aren't entirely devoted to getting the perfect guy and keeping him.
And I love characters with a secret identity/past/power/ability like genderbenders or sudden-getting-of-super-cool-powers or secret part-time job like an idol (penguin revolution is both genderbender and secret idol!) or a maid (kaichou wa maid-sama).
