dorms...

good : there's always somebody's birthday, easy access to many things, free internet.

bad : there's always somebody's birthday, shared bathroom, nasty smells, roommate's girlfriend, not much opportunities or space for studying in a room, noise, potentially bastard roommate.

No.. mainly because the people that run the dorms at my University are Nazis... so many rules, so many fines if rules are broken -_-

this is my fourth year living in a dorm... the only roommate that ever stayed was japanese so i think the only reason she stayed for the whole year was because she didn't want to go through the hassle of having a room change :[
this year's roommate just moved out this past weekend... (am i just not not likeable or something?!)
the thing i hate most about the 2 different dorms i've lived in is that they both have walls made from cinder blocks painted plain white that gives it the vague feel of a prison. also, you have to have a meal plan whether you ever intend to set foot in cafeteria or not. and for someone as unsociable as myself eating alone in a packed cafeteria is not fun.
but everyone seems nice and they're not noisy, so it's alright.

I painted mine...two years in a row. 'Twas against the rules, but nobody seemed to care. biggrin

I've never lived in the dorm myself (the university is a 15 minute drive from my home; or a 30 minute bike ride.... surprisingly the but takes the longest at 45 minutes) but in high school my dormie friends (we called the dorm students dormies....) gave me a very bad impression of high school dorms. I've only a few friends in the university dorm and they are indifferent.

I think everyone should experience the terror that is the "dorm life experience." Well, my roommate was horrendous and the public bathroom was rather annoying, but I liked the roll out of bed five minutes before class starts aspect of it. Whereas now I have to take the bus and pay for my own internet...

same here, thinking about being an RA next year just so I'll get paid to stay. the rooms/food/etc are a little subpar but not enough to bother me. only thing that sucks is the older you are in the dorms, the more and more your older friends leave for apts

I've only been in a dorm over very short periods of time, but I enjoyed it very much all the same. Of course, it does incredibly limit your freedoms (you can't go around the room in slip and bra and leave a total mess everywhere if you - as I did - happen to end up with a super neat and super proper roommate), but, well, it's fun, and there's no better way to really get to know a person than live with them.

When I go to college, MawMaw wants me to stay at home, but the dorm idea is tempting me.

I lived in a dorm for my freshman year back in the Philippines(4 girls in a room dead)

I was lucky with my roommates...They were all older than me and they acted like my guides...^^. We shared everything: foods, clothes, and they'd bring me to parties with them and entertain me with their life/love stories....

I hated it whenever they go home for weekends since I was afraid of remaining all alone (of ghosts...:hahasmile but I'd ask my other dormmates to sleep with them so that's easily solved...

We weren't allowed to cook so we'd usually eat out, but by the end of the month we'd feed on canned goods and instant noodles laugh Fun times, fun times!
