Generally no.
I've read the odd few here and there, but I don't often bother.
Mainly because I can't be asked to find them.

It is not like there is only one type of doujinshi.
After all, some are figuring out how to draw manga.
Some are the mangaka adding another tidbit to the main story that didn't fit in the first round.
Some are just seeing whom can be with whom (in bed, with various props). Just think with popular series, you can create a grid of all the major characters across the top and along the side then fill the grid in with the DJ showing those two together.
Not all manga are created the same; not all dj's either.

Yes, when i get the chance.
I think it's great when a character that you know from a regular manga can be seen through a different light than what you are used to using doujinshis. You get a different story or a different setting than the original. People should read more of them.

Yes, but only "original doujinshi," specifically, DJs made by a mangaka to continue or parody his or her own work.

There's an option "What are doujins?", but no explanation? I bring this up because most western people don't know what they are.
Doujinshi are self published works. Most are manga and novels, and they can be made by both amateurs and professionals. Usually when professionals make doujinshi, it's simply because they want to publish it themselves.
Many think for some reason that erotic manga is all doujinshi. It can be self published, but there's a lot that aren't.
Not that anyone actually reads this...

But, but that's the reason why I read them...
Seriously, there are a great deal of non-H doujins out there. True, most are H, but you can find others without too much of an effort.
