I will say I am racist. BUT! I don't HATE people because of it.
Certain cultures have things I don't agree with but it isn't like I want to KILL their whole race or that I won't sit next to them on the bus. I have my judgments but I never have a need to act on them. Never have never will.

As Avenue Q blatantly puts it: Everyone's a Little bit Racist laugh

Anyone who says that aren't racist is lying. We should be celebrating our differences rather then pretending they don't exist.

This topic is making me angry because everyone is just LYING. Of course it's BAD but that isn't the question. The question is do you make judgments based on race? And everyone does. Just accept it. You wouldn't tell a black person a black joke. There you go. You made a judgment that they don't like black jokes just cause their black. Shame on you!

Then theres all that drama with Gingers Having Souls....

dear, you have some kind of misunderstanding about racism. you are a racist if you simply think that people's qualities are influenced by their race AND if you think that your race is the best. do some research if you want and you will get the same result^^

so it is possible for someone to be completely non-racist.

about your black jokes, why make them at all? O_O they don't have any reality in them and completely silly just like stupid blondes or sexy red-heads. and me knowing about them doesn't also makes me racist.

so dear, everyone's not a little bit racist as you say, it all depends how you define it. none

Not everyones racist because to be a racist you have to have the power to enforce your prejudices, in this case based upon skin color or ethnicity. Certainly every single one of us have prejudices, but overcoming those are what make people more compassionate people.

Racists, real racists, could be a white person with a criminal past, uneducated, and have nothing going for them but still consider themselves superior to a black neurosurgeon simply because he was born white. Racism is seductive because it's empowering.

I'm gonna point out that was kinda racist.
Why, of all the people you could have chosen, did you say an uneducated white person?
Are you implying only white people are racist?

I'm not being serious, I understand what you are getting at. But I'm trying to point out that there is no way to not be racist. By even SAYING black or white or brown you are dividing the people that are all the same. By using these terms we are saying that there is a difference.

And if we really want to get into it. Honestly. I HATE when black people call another black person whitewash. Usually these so called "White washed" kids, are what? SUCCESSFUL?! GRADUATE WITH HONOURS!? NOT IN GANGS!? Now in Toronto we have black schools? It's STUPID. We wouldn't need this if these kids would stop selling themselves short. Once they become successful they aren't 'hood' any more? Come on.

@Madame Red: Blond jokes started when people began to dye their hair blond. People who were vain enough to dye their hair tended to be stupid. That was back when it was less common to dye hair.

Blond jokes are funny. Race jokes are funny. They are based on stereotypes that exist. These stereotypes exist because there are a lot of people that are examples. Not all, but most.

For example:
Brown people are cheap.
Although it is understandable that not ALL are, there is a majority that are. Mostly the ones that are new to Canada because they are used to bargaining everything in their home countries.

I am racist. I make judgments based on race. But that won't stop me from getting to know the person and changing my mind.

Aw, Mew... I'm hurt... I think you're cool....
>3< I'm a really nice person just extremely realistic.
I know it sounds cliche but I have friends from EVERY ethnic background.
I'm just fond of free speech and debating controversial topics.

I don't HATE... I just make judgments. And I don't think there is anything wrong with that.
I have never let my judgments get in the way of having friendships or relationships.

You wouldn't start doing sign language to someone who is blind.

By making assumptions you are able to figure out the best way to approach someone. Like when talking to men or women.

Like men and women, people from different cultures approach situations differently. And if you disagree go take a business course.

Can I just bold this? KK thanks.

STOP TRYING TO MAKE EVERYONE ONE RACE AND JUST ACCEPT OUR DIFFERENCES

The only differences between races are the skin colors. All the other things are just environmental/cultural differences. Things on the outside that influence behavior. No one race is programmed from birth to act a single way. Tell me, what are these "differences" you speak of?

Our differences in culture. Differences in religion.
Race is culture.

But we need to accept our physical differences too.
It makes us unique.

According to Darwinism, multiculturalism is the only way for a species to survive.
If everyone had become blond haired and blue eyed as Hitler had envisioned, imagine a plague came around only killing... Blond haired and blue eyed people!
There you go. Human race. Gone.

Plus dating within one group can lead to genetic disorders.

Edit: For example if there are 6 people in a village and they manage to eventually repopulate 100 people just based on those 6 people. You eventually start dating within a family and THAT is what leads to genetic disorders.

Even so, people in the end aren't as different as everyone makes them out to be.

...yeah but we ARE different...
Especially different cultures.

Anyways. I give up on this topic.
I've said my piece. Hate me or not I'm a nice person.
I would just like to list my heritage as an adieu for those who would like to give me some racial slammings in return for my candidness.

-Slovak
-French-Canadian
-Scottish
-Pakistani

PEACE biggrin

Racism is not technically bad unless you use it incorrectly. Racism is making a decision or choice based on someone race, culture, or ethnic background. It depends if that decision or choice is hateful or wrong. I know everyone has made a racist choice/decision, probably not consciously, but that's what people do, make judgments. But hateful, senseless racism doesn't make sense and should be stop, but probably never will. People need to realize that there is going to always be this type of hate somewhere in the world. No matter how much we argue about it on some random website, its not going to change. eyes
