I'm a homophobe but I'm not against same-sex marriages because they are beneficial to the community. Homosexuals can't have kids so they usually adopt kids. Less orphans means less crimes (in general). Homosexual guys tend to be nicer than heterosexual guys (based on personal experience) but thats just speculation. Those are just from the top of my head. I'll add more if I remember, which I doubt. Also I remember that my history teacher saying that homosexual couples usually don't commit crimes because they are better off financially. I think he said that they were dinks (double income no kids).

but the thing is imagen if your adopter by 2 gay dudes.. Can you imagen what kind of experiance the kid will have in school? I mean it will be very hard to make friends, alot of people will probably call you a FAG even if your not gay. Trust me i seen this happen. I live in California, LA and well people in my school are ok with gays as long as they stay in one place and everyone else stays at there place The school is very divided in to groups and everyone keeps to theme selves.. I have this kid in class whos mom died and his dad confesed to being gay and now the kid has 2 guys living in the house with him his Dad and his Dads new boyfirend... and well this kid has a very hard time in school i mean hard.. I have him for 2 classes P.E. and Art. IN P.E. when we change in to out gym uniforms everyone always mess with him saying things like " Hey man WTF. Why you staring at me Changing you dam queer!! " or " Hes Sexy how you doing today? " there just messing with him but he starts yelling saying things like " I'm not gay only my dad is " people verbaly abuse him alot, and i hess phisycly as well they do things like start massaging his sholders and They always make jokes about him and stuff make comments in art class like " Hey man how many Dicks you going to draw 2day " and crap like that. ( P.S im one of the people that mess with him from time to time. yeh its cruel but its funny to see his reaction. )

Yes, in the beginning it probably will be, but society changes itself with time, and if more and more people get parents of the same sex, then the problem will probably erase itself after some time.

Hi. I'm a girl and I'm of legal age to marry and I'm gay (that is to say, I like girls). I didn't read some of the previous post so I'm sorry if this is redundant.

I'm going to have to say that I don't see the point of same sex marriages let alone marriage at all. I'm sort of Roman Catholic and I believe in God and all that but I am against what marriage has represented these days.

I know some people believe that marriage is something sacred and I guess if you were religious and believe that the only way to proclaim love in front of God is to marry your partner, marriage is important to you. I get that bit but my opinion is that it shouldn't matter if you can marry or not. Love is love and marriage has nothing to do with it.

I don't support same sex marriage only because I don't support marriage at all. People are putting too high a premium on it.

The problem that needs to be fixed is people's acceptance of same sex couples. Even if same sex marriage was legalized, if people still judge and condemn same sex couples then what would be the point? It's the prejudice against homosexuals that need to be removed - the labels, the stereotypes and the predetermined idea that we are immoral people.

whatever, people can do what they want if they want to, it's only their business, no one else's

The only advantage that "marriage" has today is that it gives equal status to both partners.
I have read most of the posts in this thread and, I may be wrong, but no-one seems to have grasped that basic fact.
Same-sex partners cannot name each other in, for instance, Life Insurance policies. Any will naming a partner as beneficiary can be contested by any "related" party. And they usually win.
Anyone who thinks it's all about religion or just about choice or whatever, miss the point. It's about equal rights under law.
Here in Australia we have "civil unions" (I think the UK does also) in 2 States and (I think) 1 Territory, but all Governments (State and Federal) are at great pains to point out that these are not marriages. They do give equal legal standing to both parties, however.
So, PalaloEristin, for example, if you ever get into a long-term relationship, and wish to give that relationship legal standing, and your country/state allows it, I would highly recommend you take all legal steps allowed that you are willing to do.
Otherwise, anything you created together (home, money etc) will belong to the person in whose name it is held (and unless you take the legal steps, that's not likely to be both of you) and it will be like the relationship never happened.

Where i'm from (Denmark) gay marriages aren't allowed but they do have same legal rights as as if there were married because of a speciel law made to protect and ease whatever painful transitions for longterm partners.
However, that doesn't mean that I find the laws against gay marriages acceptable! Some may not believe in marriage but gays should still have the right to choose whether or not they want to get married!

I agree! Marriage today has lost some of its meaning and importance because there is somebody out there who keeps twisting and turning the foundation that marriage is based on!
I personally believe in marriage maybe because my parents have been together for 25 years now and most of my friends come from none-divorced homes.

Don't even talk about same sex marriages.. omfg.. its just wrong in all ways possible... seriosuly.. bible contradicts it.. and so does nature.. People weren't born divided with one penis for males and one vagina for females just so that two fucking dicks can clash together once in a while

Ok here let me rephrase what i mean by im one of the people that mess with him. What i mean is that i lagh at what happens and make a comment about it once in a wile. I dont go around and attack him constantly and i never start anything i just go along with it. But what im definatly not going to do is go and defend him cuz if i do that then ill start having a hard time in school and the way i see it is better him than me. Yeh its mean and cruel but ges what thats how high schools are where i live we need people to mess with or else there will be no way for us to get through the school day. And im 100% shure that if any of you went to my high school and actualy seen this kid you would probably do it 2. The thing is no one realy cares that his dad is gay people mess with him cuz of the way he reacts to things. If he acted normal and didnt react to what people did then people would stop messing with him.

Either the world is full of gay people or there is a lot of mentally disturbed people here who are pretending to be gay.....
