What is wrong with being a bit of innocent, hopeful anyhow? As long as I'm able to pull through and not get in trouble about it. It'll be all good. I mean, providing I'm not hurting people in the process of being nice.

On the contrary, you're not innocent. You are just inexperienced. A bit immature and perhaps ignorant, no offense. Nice people are often propelled by reasons.

By reasons, do you mean ulterior motives? Then that isn't being nice, it's being shrewd... or are you one of those who believe that there isn't such a thing as true altruism?

Maybe I'm being too optimistic, but I also think that we're all innately nice.

I'm telling you, all truly nice people are insane. Just like all saviors. They are either genius or madman.

Does jumpimg in front of a car to save a dog counts as being nice?

I think it can be, I know that I am nice to people even if when someone doens't that. It's also harmful to yourselves occasionally.

edit:

I think that sometimes if you are too nice, it makes it easier for you to get walked over on. I know personally most people that talk to me only do so if they need something. :/ and I usually help them out D:

If ur too nice girls wont go for you, i have this friend, we know this girl. I know her better because i see her more, but my friend makes fun of her whenever we're together. Who do you think she went for?

is the sad truth is I should be a douche to girls?

in anime/manga its mostly nativity, the fact that the male lead has no understanding and xp with love. so hes placed in a situation where he finally realizes it and doesnt want to hurt all the girls that have interest in him. since most of these animes are targeted to teens we get a watered down explanation and predicament that a) he chooses one or b) he chooses no one. In reality we probably would see a School Days/H anime type scenario where the male try to fornicate with everyone and the girls finds out and bad things start to happen.

i think being too nice is more painful in itself in trying to keep up the facade that you want to have goodwill toward everyone and willing to help everyone unless you are just naive or ignorant to the world. You can and will be taken advantage of and you are not valuing your life to the fullest if you always take time away from your life to help others in doing meaningless task.

girls go for confidence and being a douche makes you look arrogant which is commonly confused for confidence. while being nice makes you look weak and spineless which is translated to having no self confidence.

I think that being too nice is unrealistic because the world is never nice or fair. Nice people, as was mentioned, are usually taken advantage of and I think view the world in a different light than they should be. They consider everyone their friend and try to help everyone. They're not realists. This may sound unusual but I usually identify nice people by how they classify others: "this person is nice or this person is mean".
My teachers in school were also too nice, I think. For example, when the class played a game for extra credit points on a test, the group that won didn't really win because then the teacher gave the losing side the necessary extra points to even the score and not hurt anyone's feelings. In the real world this doesn't happen. The company that goes bankrupt isn't given free money to start over, etc.
