well if he goes down is because Negi used Rakan own power to counter attack, but I think is better if Negi faints midway and later Rakan acknowledges him as an adult (more info)

Maybe a double KO and they have to split the prize money?

to hell with those alternatives, the story will be so predictable if they chose those scenario; beside the kid is a genius if they try to make him mature as a character by making him lose or tie that plot line is so overuse and they using a lot of dragon ball's ex machine to advance and develop the character super Saiyan Negi II that what i feel when i sen negi now,lol
Well... the thread was long so I didn't read everything but...
I'm dissappointed... I was really hoping Negi would lose . He's still a child, one in very ecchi situations, but a chile none the less; I'd rather Rakan not acknowledge Negi. He needs some dissappointment in his life (e.g. not knowing about his mother).

lol...Negi was beaten to a pulp twice by Fate...isn't that enough humiliation?
Anyways I am looking forward to the future chapters. The darkness is devouring Negi's soul. Maybe we get to see an evil Negi and he'll kill off his harem^^

Anyone want to bet it's going to come down to Asuna canceling out the darkness?

chapter 249 is awesome, finally Negi gets Rakan's seal of approval. I can't wait for the next chapter, since they acknowledge Negi as a man now I'm hoping for some answers about:
1. Negi's mother?
2. What happened to Nagi?
3. Some answers about Asuna.... like how old she really is and wether she is Negi's aunt?
PS: I think by now most people got used to Negi in his teen form (16-17) its gonna be one hell of a dissapointment to see him return to his 10 year old self (or 11-12 if you count all the time he spent training in the Resort)

@Spanky: Yeah, I'm thinking it'll come down to that. However, it will probably happen after they get back to Mahora (that's what clone Eva hinted at).
@Tazman: You have to count the time spent in the resort. When it was first introduced, Eva said it added time to one's age, which is why she didn't recommend it for women. As such, Negi is probably around 11 or 12, yes.
Anyway, I'm going to go big, long term here. After this battle with Fate, (oooo, bad pun, bad pun) which will be in the fallen Ostia, and after returning to Mahora for some amount of time, Ala Alba will most likely got to Istanbul at some point. Many mysteries surround that city in this manga. First, Fate and Nagi supposedly defeated each other there ten years ago, as mentioned in chapter 229. Also, Nagi noticed, found, saw, discovered, obtained, achieved, or did something that was not done in centuries, again mentioned in Fate's plan in chapter 229. Seeing as it was said as "centuries", this is to say that something has existed for an extremely large number of years and that Fate has been apart of that the whole time, most likely along with his current pactio partners. Shown a bit later, in Rakan's movie, At first, Fate is as we see him now; however, later when Nagi goes up against the big, unnamed baddie, Fate is shown in an adult, grown up form, and the "Pactio Partners" are male, not female; they have the same names as the current females. Seeing as Fate's real name is "Tertium", which is "third" or "the third" in Latin, This would suggest that Fate is the third of his kind. Hopefully, this does not mean that there are multiple "Fates", but rather, that this one is the third in a line of "Fates". This leads to the question of what fate is. Eva mentions him as moving like a construct, that is, not a natural being. However, he seems, in all aspects, to be a natural human mage. This leads me to one conclusion; Fate, and his partners, are homunculi. A homunculus is essentially a created human; Frankenstein, for instance, would me considered a homunculus, although he was not animated though magic, making him an actual created human. In any case, making something like a homunculus would not only require a huge amount of magical energy and technical knowledge but also require an extreme sacrifice; homunculi have almost always been considered (in real world myths of course) a forbidden art. Very few stories project the idea of making a homunculus a non-evil action. Homunculi are not golems; golems rarely have any high level of intelligence and are easily identified as not a natural living being. Homunculi, for all intensive purposes, are natural living beings; they can do everything and everything any normal person can do. The only difference is that homunculi generally have a some small form of "programming" that makes them do things or behave a certain way.
Anyway, that's all I have for now. There was something else, but I've forgotten it.

Yay, mostly fan-service episode!
Gotta love how Negi was treating the cadets like delicate butterflies then blew all their clothes off. Why do I have a feeling that the Governor-general that just entered is related to Fate? looking at the sword being carried I'm thinking he's the one that trained the Shinmei-ryƫ girl following Fate.

xD I was laughing so hard at the Nugi-kun DK-1. I was cracking up when she said 23.5cm. Talk about setting a trap with that wording, but I did guess what she meant before I went back to reading it. I can't wait to see who all of them get up the nerve to make a Pactio.
I wonder how long it'll be before someone decides to use that panel as a sig.

soooo... what do you guys think? any ideas?
i honestly think that this manga will go on for a while anyway
i mean, the plot is so full of unanswered points
anyway, seems like the Shinmei school has a firm place in the magical world
whatever
good chapter
Spoiler (highlight to view)
as to who the real enemy is

I was on the edge of my seat! I really wanna know who the real enemy is now >_<
It might be a twist and he reveals that the Asuna with them right now is not the real Asuna @_@
I mean, someone's bound to find out eventually, right?
