OneManga is closing down within the next week. Looks like the publishers are really getting serious with this. The forums will still be up and what not. I feel dead. :/

Where are you getting this information, the OneManga website doesn't have any notices about this.
Could you give me a link or I'll have to assume this is misinformation.

You have to go to the main site not the beta.

Glad to hear about mangafox and it's many server locations. As long as I have somewhere to read a majority of the manga I want, I'm willing to download a few that I can't find otherwise. Honestly though if it came down to it I'd download them all if I had to...

What about 1000manga.com , onemanga's counterpart for "inappropriate" content?

It's closing too.

I have google manga sites and going for the low hidden ones now. Q~Q But really I am getting sad... I can't afford to buy manga every week, espically for how long it takes to get translated and sent over to the US. >.< I would understand their pissed, but atleast have some mercy... I have been looking up as many site as I can, and luckily i took spanish, but still, it hurts... But I hope the internet can still win. TT^TT Btw, if anyone has a large manga amount of manga downloaded, contact me... just in case. >.> Just in case, but new sites will pop up, with loop holes. Q~Q Just believe... and research...

PS: Do they have a "legal" manga viewing site? o_O
Edit: PM me a reply

It's bittersweet.
I'm sad but at the same time it's a logical step since scanlations are not exactly legal and I really want to see the US manga industry go further.
I think a lot of the people who are grumbling right now are just afraid of adjusting. Many people will know how to continue reading manga online but many people will also be encouraged to check out more the titles available on shelves.
And there's a lot out there- I swear to god if someone claims that there's nothing good left I will *mumble mumble*

while i may not know as to why IRC is such a safe haven for piracy, but as i mentioned in the MT thread, if we're lucky, we'd all just go back to IRC, no biggie.

do not confuse scanlating sites with online reading sites. save for one that i'm aware of (SleepyFan, based on some rumors in 4chan), scanlating sites are a separate entity from online reading sites, in that they are capable of surviving without sites like OM. Scanlators do the work, online reading sites merely upload their work for others to read, sometimes with the scanlators wish, and sometimes against.

there seems to be work on something called Openmanga. apparently they have contacted the publishers and author on the idea, and there are claims that their views on the proposition was positive.
