he's not the only one. maybe he's just following the trend. most shounens have a bit of romance in them nowadays. dragonball, flame of recca, yuyu hakusho, bleach, prince of tennis to name a few

and just as Xeronia said, fans would pair them up anyway

Dragonball has romance? I though it was purely on fighting. Also, Prince of Tennis has no romance, in my own point of view. The girl just admired Ryoma, who is always preoccupied with TENNIS!

dragonball definitely had romance although VERY VERY low screen time, i mean cmon. don't tell me you never watched the part where goku proposed to chichi in the budokai tournament. or where vegeta had a moment with bulma

It wasn't that romantic, unlike Sakura crying over Sasuke when he was about to leave Konoha.

it wasn't THAT romantic. yes, i agree. but still romantic.

I would be really happy if Kishimoto made fated couples come together like narutoxhinata sakuraxsasuke stuff like that. It would be really nice... but I agree that since this IS a shounen, he shouldn't focus a lot of attention on the romance and keep to the action and main story. It would make a lot of shoujo-readers-reading-Naruto happy though!! <3 Sakura and Sasuke forever!

Speaking of shojo readers, maybe he's trying to appeal to a wider audience than just boys. There are tons of girls out there reading Naruto.

I used to think that /maybe/ Sakura and Sasuke ahd a chance together, but with the hints in the recent manga chapters, I'm beginning to believe that she's going to hook up with Naruto.

I heard that in an interview, Kishimoto said that Naruto, Sasuke, and Sakura has some sort of love triangle going on...hmm...but it was an interview from earlier in the series.

I personally hope Sasuke stays single too, he is so cold, I'm sure his relationships would be cold too, maybe.

I think that some of the crushes are just crushes. Crushes come and go.

I never really thought of Sasuke as cold. There is a reason to that madness that I don't really feel like sharing.

I guess you could say that the three are a love triangle. But if Sasuke want to revive the Uchiha clan, then he's gonna need some help.

i actually prefer SasuNaru (their relationship is definitely more deep than SasuSaku, imo in a great majority of shounen the boyxboy relationships are deeper then boyxgirl), but i think NaruSaku would be much more logical than SasuSaku.
although i can imagine Kishimoto making a time-skiping epilogue with Sasuke and Sakura and their children.
