Quote from Dr. Love
Well, the US education system should at least have one other compulsary language, no? So, that you won't know only English for whole your life. >_>
Granted, America has good schools, even some of the best in the whole world, but most of the time their schools are sub-par to let's say, European schools.
... We have 2 compulsary languages besides our mother language, 'nuff said. .__.
For college you need at least 2 years of a foriegn lanuage. Also there isn't much of a need in America to speak other languages. Unlike other parts of the world that are made up of different countries that speak different languages or variations of the same language, unless its an immigrant, you don't run into too many people that don't speak english. And the amount of people that travel to other countries doesn't justify the need to spend extra money on something that won't be used. Now in Europe where you may have 14 languages spoken in under a hundred miles of space, here the biggest difference would be accents. Now I think teaching of other cultures is important, but spending money on something that won't be used by 98% of those forced to learn it, when that money could be spent on things like new schools, more teachers, programs to help those that need it, and the like, that stuff is more important.
