I don't use many Japanese words out in the World (or online), But it does make people stick out,atleast around these parts.

When I lived in Hawaii, we used to speak Pidgin - basically using words form every language you can think of all the time in every sentence.

I was not the best at it, but when speaking someone might use English, Spanish, Hawaiian, Portuguese, and Japanese words all in one sentence. Also they tend to not conjugate verbs and to slur all the words together.

So someone might say something like - Hey Bra, dat Tako was numba one kine ono! Hana Hou, por favor!!

Meaning - Hello Brother, that Octopus (sushi) was the best of the best. I'll have another one, please.

Because of this, I enjoy throwing random words into all my sentences when I'm speaking, but don't tend to do it so much when I'm writing on the interwebs.

That Pidgin thing sounds like a lot of fun. Well, at least for people who are into linguistics.

As for the topic, I'm often not capable of not showing signs of disgust with the usage of popular Japanese phrases in the language I speak (in my case - Russian). Some say I overreact, but really, people need to show some respect to their mother tongue and the language of Japanese people. This is the case when merging languages is not cool.

I can't imagine trying to mix Russian in with Japanese...I'm not sure where exactly you speak with your mouth, but isn't it hard to change tones? O_O;

I don't insert any Japanese words into my English sentences online or in real life. To me, it just seems odd to do so. But, if other people choose to do it, I don't mind. It would just annoy me if they pronounced it horribly wrong. And in real life, no one would understand me if I started saying some Japanese words. I'm also taking a Japanese class, so it's more likely that I'll be doing the opposite, speaking Japanese with English in it (I try to avoid doing so, but it's sometimes necessary).

I'm guilty of mixing Japanese in with my English, but almost exclusively when talking to my kids - and it's mostly to irritate them. They're interested in some Japanese words (mostly insults, they're almost 12 so what can you expect?) so I try to get them to learn whatever I can.

I've been trying to learn Japanese on my own for a couple years off-and-on, so when I'm in that "mode" I will try to say things to my kids in real Japanese instead of English, just for practice and to possibly force them to learn some whether they want to or not.

If you watch Japanese doramas & variety/talk shows, there is SO MUCH English assimilated into Japanese that I don't see the big deal with assimilating some Japanese into your English - though I agree it's irritating when some people constantly use their 3-4 Japanese words, sometimes incorrectly, and often grossly mispronounced.

Eh, over the years Japanese have put many, many words into their language that belong to others. The word for "part-time job," "arubaito" comes from German, for example, and nowadays its common Japanese and not slang.

Eh, not really, I do use japanese sometimes when I'm trying to be funny with people who actually understand what I mean, like on MSN or with my bro. But, yeah I don't really like using em that much, and I kinda find it annoying when people say it espacially in real life.......
