I have noticed that scans are becoming rarer by the day. A year or two ago there were many groups that were scanning numerous projects and posting them online. Now it seems there are only a few groups left that are scanning projects. Even these groups are releasing projects at a slower pace, and mostly because of the time and money. What I am really wondering about is did scanlation fad die out or something? I have 201 mangas on my reading list and only a dozen or so series are updated each month and that's because they are the widely popular ones like: naruto, bleach, vampire knight, and etc. I don't mean to offend anyone but I only wish to know what has happened to all these groups and mangas that were translated.

Last two years ago, it was all the hype for groups to be spontaneously created consequently have many series picked up.

However, now that basically all the good/cliche series have been picked up, there's nothing else good left for new groups to pick up, so that spontaneous spike has gone down to more regulated levels.

As well, know that there has never been a "spike" increase of translators, even if many groups were created. With the seemingly decreased availability of translators, many groups then soon came to close down/go defunct since they couldn't get anything done.
