So, do you guys do the anime or the manga first for a series?

I don't really care what I view first.

ummm i read whatever is out first and further along (this is concerning scanlations versus fansubs) usually manga cause i have no patience to wait for the anime. actually i try to continue with whatever i strt off with. like if i start the with the anime and like i'll continue with the anime up to whatever is fansubed (then switch to manga (starting from beginning cause can't wait if it's that good of a manga/anime. but it is my belief that if you can you should watch the anime first then if you really like go back over and read the manga cause usually once you red the manga you have no interest in watching the anime or so it is with me. as is the same way with books and movie adaptations of books >_>

if i have the choice:
the anime.

if not, whatever is out earlier.

the reason:
usually the anime doesnt live up to the manga, but is made in a good way, so if you don't know the manga you'll actually like the anime very much, but if you know the manga first, you go off to think 'damn why the hell did they that shit and why the hell did they shorten that part'... whereas if you read the manga later, you'll think "ah, so thats behind that and now i understand better!"...
if the anime is bad, without even knowing the manga, i'll try the manga too, to see if the anime just screwed up.

that way i can judge both pretty good without my pre-knowlegde influencing it very much.

Anime first, always (unless there was no anime out when I read the manga).

My reasoning is pretty much what ttxdragon wrote.

Depends on what its based. Like if it based on an ero-game/novel. I'd rather watch the anime. For the rest I check what people think of both versions. If the anime follows the manga closely. I'd obviously rather watch the anime, like H&C.

I choose the manga of course.
The reason is because it's still original from the author!! biggrin

manga definitely!
it tends to have a lot more storyline than the shows. but sometimes even the shows are better than the manga.

god, you guys have much better reasons than i do. I choose manga simply because it takes less time to download and less time to get through.

Manga,
I just enjoy reading manga more than watching anime. Of Course, their are examples of the anime being better ( ghost in the shell, Cowboy bebop ).
Since manga has a much smaller production cost, it is much more diverse and intresting in my opinion.

I usually see the anime first just because animes tend to fit more in one episode then mangas fit into one chapter. But i prefer reading the manga version of a series i like as opposed to watching the anime, so to me, the anime is just sort of an introduction to the manga.
