They said they'll churn out a tool to display your manga reading list in days to come, so I'm simply going to go to all the scanalation sites for all the manga I read. I don't want to have to endure this again >.>

i live in germany, we barely get any good stuff and most of the time its censored brutaly [they left out whole volumes here]

i read manga online and if i liked s series i buyed the manga ove rthe internet, not to read,
but to support. sure from 100 manga i read online i only buy for 10 maybe 12 series,

but without online scanlations i will never buy again [exept from one piece because i know it]
i cant go in a bookstore and read in every manga there to find out if its my taste
i can't find new good series if there are no forums people talk about their beloved series.

i can't wait 5 years for manga stuff, scanlators finished in a few weeks

god im sad, and sorry bout my weak english

Damn, and I started to use MT cause OM had some series that were unavailable due to licensing laws...

When I heard of MangaToshokan's existence I was so happy because most of what I read is on there but I guess no one can ever run away from the legal pressures of illegal scanlation.
I know this was going to happen sooner or later but I didn't expect it to be this soon. Oh well, I guess I'd have to rely on Kinokuniya and Amazon JP even more now.

They have a survey that they hope will eventually get to the publishers and show them what a mistake they're making.

I doubt any of it will be looked at or read anyway.

If anything it will be a response like the following:

"Look at how many people we pushed away from reading illegal manga"...

They won't care and will never understand anything.

As others have said, this coalition is working against their own interests. If it wasn't for scanlated online manga, I would never have gotten into it in the first place. There is an entire world of manga that all of these publishers are nowhere near releasing in the USA and other places and they expect to create long term manga fans with the handful of series that have been translated and published.

Their business model is a joke and there is an entire online community of people who basically do their job for them for free.

Agreed. Out of about 50 series I follow, only maybe 5-6 of them readily available for me to buy because they're so darn popular. The others are "licensed" but are never translated and their volumes distributed. Even if they were, they'd be censored! No swear words, no nipples, no crosses. It disgusts me and I really don't like this...

Ah yeah I saw this yesterday too.

I'll find other ways to read manga. They can't stop me.

Even if they hit all the reader sites there is no way the're going to kill scanlation. We'll just go underground again; using IRC and forums. And as long as we have site like this one to talk about series we like we'll still be around as long as manga is.

And as most people have already said; this is really going to turn away fans not improve their profits. I own over 30 series, most of them longer ones. Only four of them I got into outside scanlations. This is going to hurt them bad. no

yeah its a big shame. I was a big fan of the site too cry I am really upset with all the recent "witch hunting" done by the publishers. I do buy my manga, but only to collect them on my shelves and do most of my reading online or download them. And most of the manga I like arent even legally translated, not to mention, most of the legal trasnslations suck as they literally try to translate everything, like "onii-chan" to "big-brother" and other stuff, which sounds ridiculous as some of the words sound and makes sense alot more when left alone.

And publishers like Tokypop license a manga only to leave or drop them in the middle like the Chronicles Of The Cursed Sword, and I own all 22 volumes released by Tokyopop but then they just stopped publishing leaving me no way of knowing the ending, and as they licensed it, no group woult take it up and scanlate it, which is ridiculous. And the other thing that annoys me the most is, most of the legal publishing companies are so behind Japan, like Ichigo100% was finished in Japan and it too the US publisher ages to reach the ending, by which time I already knew the ending online but I still bought the legal version in order to collect it in paperback on my shelf, but I didnt feel the need to read it. Sigh...it will only hurt them but I wonder if they will ever realize it

Scanlation won't die as long as IRC lives.

This was pretty sad though...I'm a moderator at MangaToshokan...I saw it coming...it started with them removing all licensed series...and then this.

People have to remember to not just cuss out the licensing companies, it's the Japanese publishers who are REALLY pushing this and making it get out of hand.

This. Seeing how we're usually getting the very same chapters that are coming out in Japan just a few days after, they're the ones who are cracking down hard the most.
