I've been a cartoon (anime) fan since I was little and I loved whenever I could catch DBZ (on tapes). I didn't really get into it until I found out about Love Hina and started downloading them off KaZaA.

Hehe Kazaa, I skipped that part of the fansub distribution.

Now for a "in my day..." rant.

I remember when I had to check websites on a dialup and send a mail order for Marmalade Boy. Had to check if they were from master copies or 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc generation tapes. Then check the website to see if my order arrived, got processed, and got shipped. At that point I was all "Oh boy, hope the air mail will only take 2 weeks!".

Now I get grumpy when I take more than 20 mins to download a new release. I'll blame it on old age whereas you boys are just impatient bigrazz biggrin

I remember when I had to leave WinMX (hardly ever used Kazaa) on overnight to download a 49MB Real Media Sailor Moon episode, on dial up of all things!

Man, those where the days. Now I get pissed off at Bit Torrent or not working, and I get most of my stuff on IRC (Or what few direct download places I know of).

I started archiving everything I download along time ago. so, I have a drawer full of stuff in my dresser, theres literally hundreds of cdrs and dvdrs everywhere in there. Not just anime, too. I eventually expanded into J drama stuff. biggrin

Anyone else have any "Back in the day" stories?

Oh, Mellowmut, Transformers are AWESOME. I still have Generation 2 Optimus Prime, its on my display shelf. The voice box still works, too. biggrin

I'm probably the only person looking forward to the live action Transformers movie. Well, maybe not the only, but one of few.

Haha, even though I'm young (19, and proud of it), I still remember 2nd and 3rd copies of master tapes, and I remember Voltron, thinking it was a really cartoon and not animation from across the seas.

Best thing, I remember being happy that you could get the first season of Sailor Moon two years after it originally aired on Japanese TV with subs. That was patience. Now we want a new episode a day after it originally airs and we want it to download in leass than thirty minutes. Oh how the times have changed... bigrazz

22 and growing older... Sheesh. I dont know if you know Ninja Robots, Ninja Senshi Tobikage, it was on cartoon network. Back in the late 90s. Lol, it was on every morning at 8.30 then they showed Akazuchin Cha Cha at 9. That was what which got me hooked to anything anime. What to do to feed my anime rage, do toriyama's release of naruto on dial up. After that i managed to get unlimited cable in 2000 and i started with mass downloading Naruto. Whew the memories.

I'm 15 and I feel young. I mean, I'm in the lowest age categorie for wich people have voted. I started reading manga when someone on a forum recommended ichigo 100%. Since then I developed my own twisted style. I started reading gantz and berserk. I just finished ichi the killer and I thought it was hilarious at times.

@decel @pokie
I don't consider you people old. That is if you're younger than 40. (My father turns 40 this year.->my father is old->40 year old people are old)

Sup i'm 20. Really only been an otaku for a few years now. I've always like cartoons and anime though. Grew up watching transformers and voltron. Not sure if thundercats is anime... Watched Robotech and some other jap stuff portrayed as cartoons. Really only got into anime knowing it was anime around dbz's airing on cartoon network. Watched my dads vhs too but didn't know what anime was then. Stuff liek project ako and dirty pair. Some other can't rember them. He always had alot of hentai. My bro watched that only thing I can rember is peices of the overfeind and some la blue girl.

Found out that I'm actually 27 confused Mis-calculated my own fricking age. I spent the last year thinking that I was one year older than I actually was. [Duh]No wonder I've had this feeling that something wasn't right[/Duh]. Whole family laughed at me...

I'm so old that I actually forgot my own age eek Never would've guessed I'd one day pulled such an idiotic stunt.
