after all it'll turn into an incest if the relationship stays any longer

You can't really say that ending was bad. The mangaka has to somewhat keep the story realistic (I agree how Shintarouta's father getting together with Haruka as unrealistic but that isn't the prime focus). The manga is seinen anyway, it deals with life issues and doesn't have all those happy endings you find in shonen and shoujo.

The ending was good though not the best; it provided closure to both Shintarou and Haruka as they can now get on with their lives. Also, the story is about the ability of humans to change which is helped by the role of an understanding caring figure like Haruka. There is also that unusual yet existent mother-son relationship even though there may have been some romance, and also Haruka's sense of duty as a mother and wife to care for her "child" (The title does translate into "maternal feelings"). She did whatever it took to help Shintarou attain independence within society and to be a functional citizen of society.

You cannot really say Haruka didn't really care about Shintarou after she left. You can see her watching Shintarou when he was working at the flower shop in the last chapter. I didn't pick that up at first, but found it the second time around.

Quite a heartfelt story.

I thought in the end Shintarouta should become a rich guy and get Haruka back from the other guy, remember his father said that he has a high IQ?, so he in a way, go a lot of money, make a powerful companie and supass that guy who took Haruka.

Even if he dont become rich, I expected that he end with Haruka, but I think this serie has rushed, because didnt say why he stay closed in the room, why Haruka really go with the other guy (I dont think was because of money) and who was Shintarouta's wife.

And sorry for the bad english, I learn from mangas so I think it's understandable.

Yeah, I was really disappointed in the ending. Especially the way he acted when she had left him. I have read many manga lately, and the one big thing that makes them similar is the ending just sucks. Enjoyed it until the last chapter.

It was bearable until I read the last page where Shin chan finally acknowledged Haruka as a "mother". dunno but by how things went, the series just left a bad aftertaste and the sequence of how things happened just felt so wrong.... Left me feeling frustrated
