I haven't read Tower of God but for the whole group/party thing in a different world you can try Id and Sword Art Online (I prefer the anime version).

How about Magi?
There is:
-main character and his friends on a journey and such.
-there are dungeons things they need to clear to get stronger.

-some comedy.
-little to no romance.
-main character is special.
Also there is The God Of High School
-main character makes friends in a competition.
-The competition is a fighting tournament.
