I used to watch Scooby-Doo @ 8:30 every morning before eating my Froot Loops and milk.
Really, good times.

I used to watch cartoons all the time. Now everything is crap. Sorry to be old school but Tom and Jerry is way to cool for Chowder or whatever...that fat purple thing actually thinks its funny... embarrassed

i like futurama the simpsons, family guy, but i think they seriously lack a plot (one that last more then an episode or two)

and you know why?

because americans who watch cartoons on a regular bases dont seem to like following a serious plot when they are watching a "funny" cartoon they just want to turn on the TV and laugh without having to know what is happening or what happend

not talking about those who watch series like all the crappy mainstream shit

also the TV producers easely figured out that if you make a show where the viewers doesn't have to go back and see what the happend the last 5 seasons to understand what's happening you can bring in more weekly viewers(possibly)

well thats only my opinion it might not be true none

p.s. love south park, because Cartman is the shit

Oh yeah I certainly agree.

The 90s was my era of growing up watching cartoons. Nothing so far has managed to compare to the awesomeness of those shows.

Waking up early to watch them saturday mornings, that was the life laugh

I feel cartoons these days are dumbed down, trying to be overly funny, and too edited and controlled.
I guess you only notice these things as you grow up...Who would expect people my age to still be watching cartoons anyway? XD

I agree.

Everything had a more innocent appearance.
Despite being very violent.

I grew up on old cartoons. Especially since I we didn't exactly had much TV back in the days...=/
Like Popeye, Tin-Tin (I'm not sure how old I was when I first watched it...), a variety of Russian cartoons and many more.
The Pink Panther has always been my favorite though.

I actually discovered Tom & Jerry much later.
There was this other cartoon which title I can't remember...
My father grew up on those.

If that were true, then most of the Hanna-Barbarra, and Tex Avery cartoons would be shit. Because none of those cartoons relied on an ongoing plot, but they were good. I think what happened was the animators got lazy and just don't want to waste time coming up with a funny plot that will fit in the space of ten minutes. they're overthinking it.

I feel as I get older American cartoons just suck more and more with some exceptions (e.x. the Boondocks) I mean I don't think American cartoons will ever be on par with anime (check they never will be)

the only reason that people dont make plots in cartoons is that only die-hard fans would watch it then. when you turn on a tv, go to your favorite channel and watch, you know exactly whats happening.

But if it was something that had a plot, youd be very confused and have to look back into the previous episodes on the internet, waste a lot of time, realise the show was over and turn off the tv.
American producers just try to make short jokes that get an easy laugh and make people think,"oh this sh*t is funny. lets watch it next time."

not "What the F*CK is happening right now?!?!?! why did **** and *** get married?!?!?! what is going on?!?!?"

Thats why they usually suck biggrin

I used to watch cartoons, but they were Filipino ones..so I don't need to mention, (since only a few would know what I'm talking about laugh ) nowadays, I don't watch cartoons, they talk about sex and other stuff, it isn't the same. But Xiaolin Showdown was good. : D
