I've heard rumors that it's licensed (hence the translation dropped) but can't find it for sale legally.

Tried asking at Misty Rain Scans but I'm like the only person left alive at that forum. -__-

Can't even get the last chapters...

I'd think the license thing for such an obscure series is just a rumor but iirc the artist works for one of those Western romance companies now and they sometimes bring over their artists' older (and better) works (like Amber Silhouette and Legend of the Rainbow.)

Does anyone have any info?

Should I try buying it in JP and just try figuring it out (my kanji are deplorable...)

I'm gonna scream if I chuck out my last pennies for the JP version of a series and then they release the whole thing in English for Kindle AGAIN.

That's how they get ya.

Okay, c'mon now, someone HAS to know? Is anyone here with Misty Rain (or whatever company is doing the official release..?) :x

I've been waiting for them to reply at Misty Rain since June 2021.

If shoujo groups want to keep doing this ridiculous gatekeeping, they at least should CHECK THEIR SITES. ;___;

I just want to know if I should hold out for an official English release or buy it in Japanese and be halfway illiterate...

I checked Misty Rain's website -- in their most recent post last September, the Admin there made a new group (starry peace) and now goes by soolee. They plan to continue Misty Rain's projects as a joint with Starry Peace (not sure if just some or all projects). That group has a discord channel, so perhaps you could ask them about it there?

Do you remember where you heard about it? I don't know either, so I'll narrow down the possibilities with a guess:
(1) If it's licensed by a big enough company, say, Viz, Kodansha, and the gang. I'm sure the rumors will be easy to find right away since they've publicly announced the list;
(2) If it's small, unknown company. Tbh, this is speaking from experience because I never knew these labels existed--I wouldn't have known about the new Versailles no Bara new package if I hadn't been walking around Barnes & Noble website. And this is also the case with Shogakukan Asia suddenly holding my favorite titles but I never heard their name until early last year lol. So, 50/50 between false and maybe true.
(3) Last, I don't want to crush your dream. I'm a fan of 1990s manga as well, but I don't see this kind of thing being brought up again on the surface. Gin no Valkyries licensed in my country, though I just can buy the second hand.

I heard that Misty Rain quit translating because of the license.
https://mistyrainscans.blogspot.com/2020/11/updates-on-silver-valkyries.html

The thing is, I can't even download the rest of what they translated because you have to sign up at the forum and they don't check the site. I have enough posts to read but they replied.

I'm gonna scream if the rumor turns out to be false and they dropped it for nothing.

I know vintage shoujos don't often get licensed, but the artist has scads of stuff in English for Kindle, so it does seem maybe plausible..?? I don't know. 🙁

I wish I'd learned kanji when I was young

with a long attention span.

Thanks for taking the time to respond.

Apparently it's been picked up by some new shop called "Yomoyo," but there doesn't seem to be any way to download it, even if you buy- it isn't yet on Kindle.

https://yomoyo.net/product/178469

This is annoying.
Does anyone have any experience with this site?
Is there anywhere else to purchase the translation?

I remember too many media sites closing down... And prefer to read on the go in natural light. 🙁 Will they ever collaborate with Kindle?

Ed: Buying points on my tablet doesn't even WORK. You can't even pay to rent this stuff without owning it. Has anyone else used this site? I'm so frustrated. They have some really pretty of shoujo stuff. 🙁
