I can't believe Hip-Hop is at a measly 3.4% no

Oh well, as long as it beats Rap, then I'm happy. laugh

I try not to limit myself to a particular genre/subculture. Good music is good music no matter how other people try to label it.
I categorise music in terms of 'loudness' and tempo. My preference changes with my mood.
That said I listen mostly to jazz, folk rock, blues, classic rock and other hard to classify (often indie and world) music.

I do have a couple of genres that I tend to avoid, amongst them is music in my primary language (dutch) and that what I call noise (heavy metal, free jazz, etc.)

Also, I'm of the opinion that Pop is not a genre of music... Pop is a short for Popular. An Irish folk rock song that is very popular is often automatically categorised as Pop. So if you are saying you like 'Pop' music you just like what the majority (or at least a couple of radio DJ's) like... That's what I call 'being a sheep' and not really having a preference.

Power Metal, Progressive Metal, Black Metal (not so much the Symphonic kinds), and Death Metal (mainly Melodic and Industrial).

Of course any combination of these genres work for me and anything unique or different I tend to like also, which is why it's hard to pick one genre for me. So I also like metal with electronic influences (like Sybreed and Damned Spirits' Dance) and otherwise unclassifiable stuff, which usually goes under the Atmospheric genre.

Although I like Metal, Heavy Metal or Metal, the genre alone, isn't one of my favorite genres. roll eyes

To put it bluntly, Progressive Metal is, overall, my favorite genre, but there are other sub genres of metal that I like more, but there is a lack of so... What I mean is I don't think there are too many many bands that play Experimental/Atmospheric Death/Black Metal like Mirrorthrone, and so on.

I care way too much. no

I don't limit myself to any set of genres, but my favourites would have to be ambient, post-rock and jazz.

hmmmm actually hip hop has 4.5%.....hip hop is a culture which includes various things such as grafitti and the music (rap) of course there are different styles such as old school, new school, pop rap and gangsta rap to name some. But essentially there is no hip hop or rap as it basically is the same thing (rap being the music hip hop being the life style). The only music style that is similar to hip hop or rap and is yet somewhat different would be R&B. Though I´d put all of em in the category "urban black music" (as black music also covers jazz, which is totally different). Anyways I listen to "Rap" aka "Hip Hop" and R&B. Still I´m impressed that black music is this"popular" here ...thought it´d get like 0,1%....Anime fans or gamers are really bad geeks most of the time (reason why conventions suck imo). Actually most are really introverted heavy metal listeners who see their music/life style preferences as some kind of Jihad. Don´t get me wrong there are alot of rock/pop/trance/reggae and even some metal songs i like...it´s the fans that annoy me.
This opinion is solely based on my personal experiences.
Greetings and much love

I don't know a thing about music genres. Whatever is on the radio, I listen to. But I went with pop because that's the only genre I can actually recognize...though I guess I can identify Rap too.

I like a lot of classical and jazz, but lately (read: for the last half-year or so) I've been on a huge post-rock/math-rock bend, mixed in with some ambient and some other similar sounds. So I just went ahead and picked "other," for lack of specificity.

IMO, this poll really could've used a blanket "electronica" entry instead of "dance," at the very least, given the typical demographic that's likely to peruse a manga site (though I suspect a portion would still feel unrepresented if the options weren't specific). But maybe that's just me. I suspect that around 80% of the votes currently pinned to other would probably fall into that category instead.
