I smile and nod, so that if it's not someone I know, I'm not too embarassed. Sometimes I mouth "hi"

I either kiss or hug, but I hug more often and it didn't have the hugging option so I chose something else!

I'd say I do the standard for where I live, which is:
(I'm a male, so this is from the male point of view)
If you're meeting someone for the first time while NOT in a professional atmosphere:
for girls is a kiss on the cheek(or both cheeks, or sometimes three kisses, depends on how friendly the girl is)
for guys is a handshake
If you're greeting a friend:
for girls is a kiss on the cheek(or both cheeks, or sometimes three kisses, depends on how friendly the girl is) plus a hug of variable duration XD
for guys is a manly handshake(kinda hard to explain, like when someone is sitting on the ground and you help him stand up) plus a manly hug(you know, the kind with slaps on the back and such). I'm pretty sure there's and instructable around the interwebs that explains this(and no, I'm not kidding XD)
If you're greeting someone on a professional atmosphere:
handshakes all around XD
As far as I can tell that's not common around the USA, but what can I say? We from Brazil like physical contact
PS: in the anime/manga loving ppl it isnt uncommon to have overfriendly ppl even by our standards, and by overfriendly I mean the tackle/jump on you/bite you variety, which I must say I find very awesome

in most cases.
In others. It's:
-screams said victims name-
-runs-
-jumps on them-
If they're not a friend, handshake/ polite kiss on the cheek.

apparently my PS. in the last post(

and I reinforce that the pouncing greeting is the awesomest greeting EVAR
especially if it's a pouncing biting greeting, but I guess the biting part is not for everyone

A simple nod of the head. Maybe throw in a 'Alright?' or something Irish like that.
Man greetings
We usually start with an exploding fist bump to a low five, followed by a scoop dap, to bro hug back tap combo.
NOT a bro hug double back tap combo. That's just too much.
But that's only if we have the time for our long greetings.
"The point and go" will suffice for any other situation

um, i just say "hey" "whassup" "hows it going" for people i dont know too well
if i know somebody better the greeting is more personal, i would probably give em a hug. or just start talking to them without the greeting. but i try to toss a greeting like "yo yo!" or "yo whats up" or "whassup d00d" if i get a chance.
if im trying to be polite i might say "hello sir" or "hello miss"
or just to be funny i call kids sir and miss too

I don't really greet people unless they offer a handshake/hug or say something first. Most of the time, I look over and "asdfghjkl, how long have you been there?"

It kinda depends on who I'm greeting... mostly what I think of them, but my standard is mostly a "Wave my hand" & "Just yell something ("Hi!" included)" and I occasionally do this salute thing, which would probably be offensive if done to military personnel.

Being Mexican born and raised in California, my greeting usually just involves me tipping my head back for friends and family alike, and a hey or what'sup. I don't really like touching people. So it was really awkward when I went to visit my family in Baja, who greet with a hug and a kiss on the cheek, I was a little freaked out.
