So fantasy plus romance?

Merupuri and stuff by TANEMURA Arina such as Kamikaze Kaitou Jeanne.

Not quite an epic story where there are trials and tribulations to go through for that love. Muripuri I have read it was very good but not quite what I am looking for.

I haven't finished this manga yet, but I'm sure Kare Kano would deal with this, especially with how the anime left off for the manga. And Fruits Basket with the family curse.

Honestly though, Miaka and Tamahome drives even a lot of die-hard romantics crazy with their "Miaka!" "Tamahome!" exchange-type situations. But if you didn't mind them (or even liked them when they were like that... laugh shy ), you can probably look up couples that are in the "most hated" thread and from some manga that fits your description.

And really, for a couple to really be tested, I have to what your looking for for "trials and tribulations" since in Merupuri, Meri does get tested for her love to Aram. Better than the "Miaka!" "Tamahome!" junk, although Miaka and Tamahome got to stretch out their story a lot longer.

Try Hana-Kimi it's funny and pretty long. It's cross dressing female into an all boy's school to innfluence Sano (the main male character) to high jump again while she starts to fall in love with him.

Koukou Debut Still ongoing but worth reading.
Yurara no Tsuki
Any works by Arina Tenamura is romance manga so try checking out her stories like Full Moon, or Kamikaze Kaito Jeanne.

Vampire Knight I'm not 100% fan but many girls like this manga biggrin

Basara
Kyuuketsu Yuugi
Tenshi Kinryouku
Ao no Fuuin
Legend of Nereid
Full Moon wo Sagashite
Divine Melody
Seimaden
Ouke no Monshou
Oyayubihime Infinity
The Bride of the Water God
Chrno Crusade
Harukanaru Toki no Naka de
Saiunkoku Monogatari
Saver
Fairy Cube
... to name a few. Some I wouldn't exactly say are love stories but have the same elements as the manga that you've named.

Princess: It's not quite fantasy like the titles you have there, but there are definitely a lot of trials that all the couples has to go through to realise their love... Be warned though, it's really tragic <--- understatement XD

I third Basara, you can't get much more epic than that lol.
