Dont feel bad about that, button mashing gives everyone a hard time because its just so unpredictable.

Also I doubt that upping the speed will work, since the only increase option is 2x and Brawl isnt that much slower than Melee.

Damn. It would have been interesting if they had a "classic" mode setting in the rules. Got some of the flow back in my game now so I can pretty much read crude attacks and dodge projectiles reliably again.

So far I'm having fun trying to figure out how to effectively use king Dedede. All his attacks are so slow and comical. Practicing swallowing and suicide drops with him is hilarious.

Well right now I am getting a certain fondness for Ike. Just like Dedede hes slow as hell. But he packs such a massive punch behind all of his attacks its totally worth it. His regular B move hardly charged has as much power as most character's smash attacks, and his smash sideways A move can kill at 50% damage.

Ike is just a beast in every meaning of the word.

You should try fighting some level 9 computers, they are actually not stupid like they were in Melee (they know Pokemon other than Electrode actually exist, and they wont walk into motion sensor bombs). I can get my ass handed to me fighting them though, its crazy some of the stuff they can pull off, it really does give me a lot of hope for the pace of fighting in this game.

Level nine CPU opponents doesn't offer too much trouble for me except when I try to fight link with Samus. Fighting against it with ranged attacks is a near dead heat and fighting it melee is murder on my thumbs. The funny thing is I could slaughter that very same Link with characters ranging from Pikachu to Bowser with or without items on.

I got the feeling that Ike was tough when my bro would continuously challenge me with him whenever I used Marth. The priority of his up B is nuts too. Every time my bro does it I have to force myself to remember to dodge instead of trying to do an up smash on him. Does anything have priority over that damned attack?

Just got Mr. Game and Watch and I still find using him hilarious. The people I play with still have a hard time reading his moves to boot. I don't know if it is just the fact that people don't see him often or if they increased his power a bit the little guy's put me on a winning streak

Mr. Game and Watch is a good character with luck on your side. the only thing is his AI suck so hardly anyone plays against him and lots of people relate the AI to the usefulness of a character. Thus he gets not much use.

My mains are Diddy Kong, Luigi, and Meta Knight.

Diddy Kong really surprised me. Nice reach for his size. Smashes don't take to long to power up. Sweet aerial grab that can change to a kick. oh and his bananas are what I like the most about him. Can trip someone up, right, left and center. gives a great opening for an attack, or opponents can screw up their combos by stepping on one. Plus unless an opponent deflects or pick one up Diddy Kong can't slip on 'em.

Luigi got so awesome, fast and strong. His main problem is he has bad traction so slipping is more often then other characters and he tends to slide around some. His up special though needs timing is insane. Green Missile (side special) can do some good damage. Combine the two attacks for awesome Recovery. His projectle doesn't do much damage but can stop others.

Meta knight is a combo freak. It's hard to escape his beastly attacks. He is kinda weak though. Really nice recovery attacks, plus being able to glide.

Ike's up B is a rather intersting thing. You see he is actually immune to flinching until he jumps up and grabs his sword. At that point you have to beat his priority or get out of the way, before that...just get out of the way.

I find that level 9s are MUCH better than in Melee. Considering I could fool around 1/3 of the characters on Melee into killing themselves. In brawl the level 9s are masters of shield combos blocking your attacks and then attacking you right away. They arent too tough to beat, but at least they are capable of killing me in a 5 stock match now, in Melee I could kill a level 9 4-7 times before it would finally have racked up enough damage to kill me.

Luigi if anything is worse than he was in Melee, his best attack method has been thrown out since you cant dash cancel anymore. In melee he rocked, his recovery was a little poor, but still not worse than average. He lacks the power and attack range he used to have in Melee and hes a bit harder to control, though he does pack a little bit more of a punch.

I havent given Diddy Kong much use though but I hate Meta Knight, he lacks the main thing I look for in a character and that is at least one move than can kill at around 100% damage. And his combos really arent that great since they are mostly single attacks that score multiple hits, which really doesnt help too much since you have to hit with all the little attacks to do decent damage.

Flying from one side of the stage to the other isn't range?

I was wondering about Luigi myself. His b attacks haven't really changed but his up Smash and forward smash doesn't seem to have the reach it used to for certain. I wasn't paying close attention to the damage but it feels like almost all the character's air attacks do not knock opponents as far as they used to. Still, of all the smash attacks, I find his the most enjoyable to use so I'll stick with him. I seem to enjoy playing all the freakier characters.

I have the wii, and I don't own the game yet.. but I beat it already.(my friend owns it)
My personal favourite characters would be... Pit, Ike, and Toon Link. I'm so happy Toon Link is in it! I loved Windwaker.. and Zelda in general. And I love the whole smash ball attacks.. so cool!

Pit is fudging awesome. His rapid moves and return jump... Rawr. ;D

Zelda's gotten a lot stronger. Her missile side B attack? Best in the game.

I stopped using Sheik after seeing how great Zelda got. Sheik is great and all... But she's not as good as Zelda.

Pikachu kicks serious balls on 1v1 battles. He's my second choice (after Pit). I prefer Toon Link over Link seeing as he's not as slow and I just love him. ;D What's next? Paper Link? I'm not complaining, I'd use him.

Other fav of mines are Kirby and Yoshi (my favs from Melee) and Ike. He's so strong and gewd. n.n

Lucario's pretty powerful so I use him from time to time.

Pit > All

I've gotten addicted to online play... Heh. Anyone wanna play me? My FC is in the FC thread.

I haven't got online yet and was wondering, are there a lot of people spamming Sonic?

What good does spamming Sonic do? He only has like 2 attacks with any deadly knockback and his damage is low as hell. The only way to even use him effectively is if you are at least decent with using combos as him. Anyone who goes online with Sonic and isnt any good with him just gets slaughtered and so the inexperienced dont tend to use him for long.

Nice! Then I won't feel bad about using him.
