On stage 7 of Serious Sam. I'm starting to lose my grip on what I perceive to be reasonable for just about everything. Can't even imagine what the second half of the game brings to the table.

I haven't play it for so long I got mixed up with Serious Sam and the Serious Sam Second Encounter maps. and yes I'm on normal mode and after the Oasis its still no joke (stage 6?). But I'm having so much fun kiting with a shotgun, ah the good old days!

Dragon Age: Origins for me too.

It's kind of overhyped though.
It's great for an rpg, but the story (main selling point) is pretty cliche. It borrows a bit of everything from Lord of the Ring to A Song of Ice and Fire... and tries to put it all together.

End result is one hell of a clusterfuck of ripped off ideas.

The thing that bothers me most though is the small dungeon-like maps. Loading .... loading.... loading....

They should've used a better engine so they could've made big environments which in turn would’ve helped us get the feeling that it was a living breathing world. But that's Bioware tech for you... no improvement since Kotor (which totally rocked) and counting...

Mass Effect was essentially Kotor in a 'unique' Bioware universe, with force powers that were re-labeled "biotics".

Ugh... I didn't mean for this to turn into a rant, but everything Bioware makes is seriously overhyped.

Edit: Actually I think some of Mass Effect's environments were a bit bigger (namely the empty planets you could drive on), since it was made with Unreal 3 tech (judging by the god-awful vehicle physics lol).

But I still think all Bioware games after Kotor deserve much less credit than people give them...

Serious Sam HD

If you've never played this game or it's older, not so HD iterations, then you've never played a game that will chop your balls off and laugh while you writhe in pain on the floor.

Heh, my fav FPS. It was such a refreshing game when it came out back in 2001. Dying and killing has never been more fun.

Btw, it was made by Croatian developers team made of only 6 people.

They earn such "hype" because Western single player RPGs are few and far between, especially with good production values.

There's a reason TES : Oblivion got by so easily as well.

Yeah... Oblivion sucked bad... Some of the things you could do were just ridiculous... I remember robbing everything from one city and everybody was walking around naked and oblivious...

Or killing people in plain view when I was in "stealth" mode. No reaction what-so-ever. The many, many mods made that game.

Same deal with Fallout 3. If it wasn't for the mods it had nothing going for it. VATS system was garbage, and it had the same fail physics Oblivion had. (Oblivion engine was pretty for it's time at least, but by the time Fallout 3 came out it was nothing special).

Modern Warfare 2. Not many guys think that girls play FPS, I pretty much made my guy-friends ____ their pants when they found out.
You can find female gamers, sure, but not many play FPS sadly sad

Haha smart girl.. If you don't have to get it on a console then don't. It's always gonna end up better on PC anyways. On the other hand, PS3 has LittleBigPlanet, and that is awesome. Halo 3 will be on PC soon enough if not already, so no reason to get a 360.

Still Warcraft III. Battlenet though. It's the best place to be since new maps are constantly being created so it does not get boring, unlike most other games nowadays where modding is virtually impossible.

Halo 3 doesn't have a PC release announced and it can stay that way. I would prefer if all of those 13 year-olds and wasted frat boys stayed off of my preferred gaming platform. There are enough horrible people here already.

They won't move to another platform just for Halo 3, if they already have a 360.

Of course, it's not a particularly interesting series, but really just the first decent implementation of a FPS on a console. PC gamers usually just think of it as a very generic and inexplicably well known space shooter.

Probably because it is, and no amount of good implementation will ever fix that or the inherently broken nature of dual-analog controls for first person gameplay.

legitimizing this post with topic related content:

Nabbed World of Goo off of Steam while it was on the cheap in celebration of Thanksgiving. Besides the somewhat botched controls for grabbing goo, it's pretty much awesome.
