I don't know if the story really is a one shot, but since i've only found one chapter, i assume it is. Anyway, its about this super popular guy and this other non popular guy who are 'friends'. What i mean is that the popular guy thinks they're friends but the unpopular one dislikes him since every girl likes him. The thing is that all the girls think that because popular guy is hot and smart, that he must be rich too. But he's not. He is broke. So broke in fact that he doesn't even live in a house. He lives underneath a garden with his little siblings. The chapter shown is on valentines day and everyone of them is excited cause they can't afford sweets. So popular guy goes to school and is bombarded with sweets as the unpopular one glares from a distance. Than this girl calls out to the unpopular one and while he's assuming she wants to give him the chocolate, she asked that he deliver it to the popular one. Pissed off, he knocks it on the ground. Popular guy, seeing this, jumps up and yells at the unpopular guy about wasting food. As everyone questions why the popular one cares so much, he tells them that he'poor and leaves. They as unpopular guy to confirm it but despite his words, they misunderstand. The chapter ends with the two walking home as the popular guy hauls a cart full of chocolates.

Theres a sequel to it as well, if im right. It about some office lady he meets and ends up with. It has to be him too. How many manga guys live underground?

Seems like Yamada Tarou Monogatari to me... he lives in a shack, though. There's a one-volume sequel too.

Now I think it's likely a story about his little brother when he's grown up, compiled in this sequel: Yamada Ikka Monogatari Gorgeous.
