I think he does have some feeling for her but but not to the extent of committing suicide for. What bothered him was her devote concern and affection is only towards his son when he was the one having sex with her and his son showing the same amount of affection even though he hasn't seen her in a while with his father being the middleman for their affection. After finding out Ayu died of AIDs I am pretty sure he felt really guilty about it because Ayu an outsider pushed herself that much for his son when he being his own flesh and blood did not even attempt to earn money to save his son. Most likely he also caught AIDs having sex with Ayu so many times. Rather than being a burden to his son's new found life he chose to end his life the following spring after his son's surgery preparations were complete leaving his son a huge sum of insurance money the.
