Bitter Virgin. The male protagonist, to me, actually seems like he could be a real person.

One person that comes to mind is Kyon from Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya (anime not manga).
He is one of the rare exceptions in shounen manga/anime.

Haruhi is seinen, in all three of its forms.

Spiral and Blood Alone are probably both good choices, although the romance angle is kind of small in Spiral.

If your looking for seinen or shonen then the anime (or visual novel) Kanon is great, hte main character is quite witty (kinda like Kyon).

If you're looking for josei/shojo then Paradise kiss, the main guy character is quite the metrosexual.
