It's a tie between Lelouch and Karen for me. I like Lelouch because while somewhat arrogant he isn't exactly a prick unlike Suzaku. Suzaku's problem has nothing to do with wanting to kill Lelouch, it's the fact that his own self-righteousness exceeds everyone else's other than the emperor himself. Lelouch's rebellion is more or less in line with the thoughts the people had before he even became Zero, Suzaku is the kind of person who would want people to be happy with slavery just because he is.

Hell I don't think anyone would have even thought of giving the Japanese an autonomous area to call their own had it not been for Zero in the first place. Though Euphemia's master stroke got screwed up in the end she had all but destroyed the Japanese rebellion, and probably set Lelouch back a few years in his ultimate goal of confronting the emperor. Suzaku is too stupid to even think of such a plan on his own and he clothes himself in rules and regulations so much that he can't even see his own hypocrisy. By the time he would have achieved the power nessecary to actually do anything close to what Euphemia came close to achieving he would have become nothing more than a rule bound beuracrat who would not have changed a single thing because he would be unwilling to destroy the system itself.

He has the nerve to look down his nose at these so called terrorists forgetting the simple fact that Britannia invaded them and not the other way around. Its perfectly fine to fight them, but he can't even understand why they fight and this guy says he is going to change things. He is the worst kind of prick that exists, the kind that thinks life is about some moral high ground born out of following rules someone else tells you to follow for no other reason but that.

Contrast this with Lelouch's persona of Zero where those that follow him (especially his generals.) do so because they want to, because they believe in the world he is trying to create where race etc does not matter. (Which is something that started even before the whole mess with Euphemia though that event has helped crystalize it for him.) That a man who is not a Japanese would tell the Japanese to remember that they are MEN not merely numbers is very powerful. Especially when you know that he could just as easily have used his Geass to raise an army. (I think this is what draws Karen to him since she knows enough about the Geass to know that he could do just that and yet he does not. Though she does not know it Lelouch only told her to forget his face, and he could have done a hell of alot more.)

Even before his Geass turned itself on permanently Lelouch exercised a surprising amount of restraint in using his almost god-like power overall. I think that says alot more about the strength of Lelouch's charater even with it's very real faults, over-confidence, and arrogance being the two biggest ones. (Though a leader does need a bit of swagger.)

When I look at Suzaku I see a man who has an ego a billion times bigger than Lelouch's Zero persona which prides itself on showmanship and theatre and that is a very hard thing to achieve as Zero is trying to go to war with the most powerful nation on Earth pretty much by himself.

Xiang Ke is probably my favorite character. He's not only a beast on the field, but his strategies are on par with Lelouch.

Of course my favorite Nightmare is by far Todo's. His sword has thrusters on it... there are SO many reasons why thats amazing!!!

Xingxe, Lelouch, Kallen, Lloyd, Suzaku, and CC.

Each have their qualities that make them awesome, and for Suzaku haters all i can say is, "don't hate the char, hate anime for making it that way" and that truely look at it from his point of view i mean Lelouch was way more times despicable then him.

I choose Suzaku. but I also like other charas as well which includes Lloyd, Euphie, Cornelia etc.The knights from the new season seems interesting as well. I guess I side more with the Brittanians LoL ^^;;

I didnt like Lelouch...actually I kinda hated him because he seem to not care about anything but nunnally and revenge and he almost didnt care who got hurt in the process until it happens then he'll agonize over it for a split second and then use it to his advantage again. or maybe thats just my take.

Eh, Suzaku acts basically the same way. Actually, that's often why I get confused by all the Suzaku hate- in terms of selfishness, self-righteousness, and one-sided beliefs, the two of them are basically equal. It seems to be more the world view they take and the fact that Lelouch is the protagonist that instigates it (and yes, although that doesn't apply to everyone, it applies to a much larger group of people than would care to admit it).

My favorites have changed recently (which such a large cast, it's unfortunately easy.

My current ranking:
Lelouch
CC
Anya
Orange-kun
Xing-ke
Cornelia
