As for me....
Went to a Toe concert early last month and they were blipping amazing... one of the best gigs I've been to in recent memory.
Marcus Intalex (Mozart of DnB) was here 2 weeks ago, which was also pretty good, though I've been to better sets of his.
Club Des Belugas (lounge/jazz) will be here next month... might go if I have the time.
A Jazzanova gig has been announced for late May, but I haven't received confirmation from the event organizers yet.

Not sure. I think that they have 2 other bands opening for them on this one. I'll go and check.

Edit: Steel Train and Holly Miranda. Not familiar with Steel Train, but Holly Miranda should be nice.

I really only go to big events like voodoo fest, jazz fest, and bonnaroo. That way if I don't like a band or a song, I can just go to another one. I'm going to bonnaroo again this year. The only concert I went to was Cold War Kids, they were way to wasted to be very good though. Oh my friend went to the grammys this year and I'm definately going to make her take me next year!

Woohoo I hope they won't be disappointing, because I already stole a poster of them from a bus stop (It was going to be thrown away anyway)

On another note, Bob Dylan is coming here in June What's with this country recently O_o At least the bands that are going to come this summer are too metal-ish for me, so I will save money xD Maybe even save for Sziget 2011 *daydreaming*

Best show: Flogging Molly at the Electric Factory. Too many drunk Irish=heaven.

My first time seeing a fairly big live band was Phantom Planet's free show at my school. Soooo good... they did a rendition of "The Phantom of the Opera".

My first real concert was Coldplay's Viva la Vida tour... the energy from the band and the crowd was fantastic! The production, sound, interaction... too awesome. My cheap seats became "front row" for the band's "let's hang out with the cheap seat people" part of the gig. *le sigh... so glad that I've seen live performances from talented bands/singers.

only been to a few.. most of em religious or for charity.. most artists dont sound as awesome as they do on cds or youtube..

In my experience I have to say that the best gigs you will ever see are those played by hardcore punk bands/related genres, especially the bands who get amongst the audience. Another upside is that those bands tend to be pretty cheap to see live and play intimate venues. I think the most expensive band of that type ive seen were Converge and that was still only like £15 at most.

The most recent was some British post-rock. I feel quite bad about it because I got a spare ticket and generally I don't get post-rock. Was surrounded by hardcore fans who would kill for such opportunity.
I like to hear from foreign bands that they had the biggest crowd here. That happens because if there's a gig of some relatively rare genre there will be also the genre fans and not only the band fans.
I like gigs of ambient-ish music the most. Where no one is jumping/dancing/beating your ribs...

What band was it?
Wish I could see some ambient music live myself, hardly any ambient musicians play here in Ireland though...

By ambient-ish I also mean doom/sludge/noise, that sort of music.

Except I'm not Christian so when the religious songs were playing I felt really out of place... And most everyone there at the concert were Christian too...
And our school's sound system is really bad and made them sound like a hard core rock band at some points. xD

Otherwise it was amazing. <3
