Okay, now I don't really remember when I read this one but I only read the first few chapters.
It started with the protagonist in love with the Yakuza boss's daughter without knowing who she was. When he was introduced to the family they put him through some over-the-top trials to prove his worth or something like that.
I seem to recall it being shounen but that could be totally wrong.

Might be History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi, but the girl's grandfather runs a dojo, not a yakuza boss.
