Nothing, really. All scanlators already knew, processed and went over this months ago. Old news.

a) Not quite true wink
b) Maybe now some scanlators will do something instead of passively taking it up the anus.

>we requested the manga to be removed from mangafox
>everyone wrote several posts about it
>it went international
>it's all over forums and imageboards since winter
>groups reacting badly, groups realizing that we can just get better than them
>this slowpoke.jpg thread

Currently we are planning to network our manga readers to make mangafox useless. Some groups are offering themselves to host old manga from dead groups and keep load balancers. Scanlation is full of programmers, and we're packed with servers. This is way beyond what we could imagine one year ago, but it can be done, quite easily too, because most large groups host their own reader.

We aren't taking it up in the anus, we're going to fire back and destroy their economy, rather than cry about it.

I hope you will provide HQ and LQ mode: not so many users have good connections, and providing a LQ mode will be useful to many users.

I have to say something.. WHO CARES about it, people has been ripping off of other people since human society began to form. Almost every big company is getting money that isn't entirely honest. So what if the some guy wants an monopoly on online manga, that's how they make their living.

That's just silly. Human beings are social animals, and the way they form stable societies is by ensuring fairness toward all members. In fact, humans are one of the rare species whose individual members are willing to make sacrifices in order to punish perceived unfairness. There are always losers who try to dismiss everything with a generic statement that "life isn't fair", but what they're failing to understand is that while life might not be fair, a society that doesn't set fairness as one of its goals is doomed.

To return to this topic: if you ask "who cares", the obvious answer is "any well-adjusted member of our community". It's one of fundamental human instincts to try to correct perceived unfairness when they encounter it, and if someone lacks that instinct (i.e. "who cares?" types), either they don't feel that they belong to the community, or they should consider seeking professional help.

Excuse me, but I don't spend hours debinding tanks and cleaning share raws just to see my work destroyed to pieces by some sh*tty compressed jpg. Almost every chapter I release is 5-7 MB, MF compresses it to about the half. So you load 2.5-3.5 MB plus sheepload of ads and the site itself. With today's internet 5-7 MB is not much....

Awesome detective work. I miss Onemanga.com. I dont know if they were any better. I am hoping to learn japanese so i can help with scanlations because i do read alot of manga online and i feel bad when the credits pages ask for people and i cant help them. (my computer isnt even that good. it freezes all the time and only can support the internet) In the all im going to school so ill take a japanese class then.

Both those site should respect the scanlators because they work hard and deserve credit. And it wouldnt hurt them to pay the scanlators either.

Scanlators use very optimized formats already, like PNG8 passed through OptiPNG or Photoshop's PNG8 perceptual. Most often our files will be smaller than the JPGs on reader sites like mangafox.

Yet, we'll need to add the option for lighter versions of the page due to cellphones not being able to deal with large images without crashing. So... we might have that option too.

Meanwhile, you are part of a very, very, very small portion of readers. We can't support extreme cases. Most likely you should pay for a better Internet, if available.

This sounds like a brilliant idea, if you can make it happen...

The best thing the scanlator community could do would be forming an NGO or Union, where things like that can be discussed and the right decisions can be made. Not everyone needs to join or agree to decisions made but there should be a organization that represents the interests of scanlators as a whole. And that can react to companies like MF. Scanlators don't own the mangas, but they own the work they have put into them. The best the groups can now do is to spread the information. If some people of the community who think they can organize an interest group of scanlators then they should step forward.

Readers and leechers, you should just stay quiet. This matter is not your business and you won't understand the situation of us scanlators if you're not involved into our work. Some of us pay money from their own purse to get raws and translations sometimes to make progress, not everything is for free. We don't wanna profit from scanlations, and that should also be for online readers.
This not a welfare community that will feed you with scanlations forever just because you ask for it.

I love how this is a shocker at all. I mean come on are all of you that naive to not have thought of a business tactic like that? Did you really thing MF wouldnt care for a little lost profit? Its money people plain and simple.

Dont even get me started on the boo hoo Scanlators that whine we dont go to their sites. They were the 1s who allow their manga to leave their own site.

Like the 1 dude said "if you give a bum $1 do you care how he spends it? Sure its a little BS that they are making a killing off of this but for the scanlators they need to realize something they themselves said they ARENT in it for the money while the whole time are quite aware of what may happen with their material. Its a risk people dont bitch when that risk comes back to bite you on the @$$.

Now as for me personally ill still visit MF quite frankly cuz i enjoy the design of the site and how you read manga there. I havent been to Mangahere if i could avoid it that wont change either.

Heres the solution : DONT GO TO MANGAHERE

Simply put whats going on is w/e lost revenue Mangafox cant get Mangahere makes up for. So if Mangahere cant make up for that revenue for an extended period of time then NOEZ idea will be a bust. If you wanna hurt Mangafox dont go to Mangahere and dont go to Mangafox anymore i guess.

First, I use adblockplus, so no ads.
Second, Silvery Spoon, chapter 13 page 2 on batoto 380KB, on mangafox 127.
The images on batoto are 3 times the ones on mangafox...
What would the problem be to allow 2 kinds of quality? If a user can, he/she will use the best one, otherwise the LQ, this way you would allow every kind of user to enjoy your scans, not only the lucky ones...
Aren't we your fans too?

@woxxy: If I had the opportunity, don't you think that I would pay for a better internet connection?

(stuff about LQ)

There are browser add-ons that compress images automatically to speed up page loads. Opera, for one, has such a built-in functionality ("Opera Turbo"). A bit of googling should also yield the equivalents for other browsers.
