I'm gonna have to go with manga. You can go at your own pace, the story's usually better than its anime counterpart, and there are no annoying fillers.

Chose number three, because it's not number one or two. After all, I appreciate both equally, and a literal interpretation of that statement can be that I hate them both equally, though that interpretation may or may not be my intention..

Or maybe I put it down to be ironic. Who knows?

After reading manga anime just seems so slow in comparison. It's also smaller to download.

Though anime does have some pros

I think it really depends on the type of story. There are some things that are going to be infinitely better in manga form, where character's thoughts can be more easily expressed and the art can be much more impressive. Anime obviously has quite a few pros, the most notable of which I think is sound. If an anime has good voice actors and a good soundtrack, it can be better than the manga simply from that alone even if the storylines are exactly the same.

I think that it's difficult to say that one is better simply because it depends on taste and the particular series.

You can't really tell...depends on how they make the anime...obviously for series like bleach and naruto the manga is better however for me, the anime of School Rumble, Ouran Highschool host club and even Hajime no Ippo is better than the manga in my opinion

I know there are some good anime series out there but at the end, I will choose manga as the best. you can read it any where, any time. you can take your time and enjoy the story as much as you like. plus, most of the times, manga is more artistic and better than anime. and the size of the files for download is much smaller as well! ;)

I personally like to absorb a lot of info for a certain series in the fastest amount of time, especially if I enjoy that series. Manga allows me to do this, since 1 volume may take half an hour while an entire anime episode lasts 20 minutes or so, depending if I skip the opening and ending. However, it all really boils down to the story and means of expressing the story. Generally, the original format of the story is better than the adaptation though anime can express things the manga cannot and vice versa, such as sounds and colors.

same storyline: manga > anime

if using the same script, manga is usually better cuz more details and depth of story. not censored. no boring fillers to extend the series.

different storyline: manga > anime

usually but i have seen a lot of anime where the the animation, direction, and sequence of scenes were done so well that it really could not have been any better.

Overall, I do prefer manga to anime, by far.

There have been a few anime that I like better than the manga (also a few live-action dorama that I like better than the manga) but generally manga wins.

That may be partly because I am (and have always been) much more of a reader than a TV watcher. eyes

Well for 1, there needs to be a 4th option for both.

I am a firm believer on the type of story being told, and how it's told.

If there's a LOT of action that doesn't translate well to manga, then I say go the anime route (Initial D fits this bill well, as reading a manga about drift racing just doesn't get the adrenaline pumping in those 'you have to be there in it' moments as well). The flip side of the coin is that anything heavy in dialogue and drama is usually better done in manga, as the 10 min discussion in an anime episode usually just tends to be flat out boring, whereas reading it you at least expect dialogue that long.

So I didn't actually vote here, because my vote is 'both depending on the circumstance'. I would never read Initial D, and I would prefer not to watch stuff like Kurosagi Corpse Delivery Service. It's like asking whether you'd want to read the original 'Star Wars' as a book or watch 'Neuromancer'. It all depends on what subject matter and how it's delivered.

i voted the last one for the hell of it

but actully, i like manga more than anime, even tho with most animes the music helps it out, aloootttt.
i just dont have the attention span for a full anime episode, and the manga chapters are short, i mean...
i read ichi the killer in less than four hours, so yea, i can go a lil bit faster with that.

The point of this thread was to see which one people liked more. Everyone probably agrees that they're both awesome, otherwise they probably wouldn't be on this site.

I'd have to go with manga. Animes sometimes miss out on the details that are essential to the manga and help it make sense. Like in NHK! anime version. Where Sato's furniture started talking to him. Most people who watched it and didn't read the manga found this bizzare -- because they didn't know that he was high at the time. I suppose because of law, they weren't allowed to show that bit or something.

But for me, comedy mangas I like better as anime. It's easier to get, and more funny in anime form. Manga form is funny too, but not as funny as anime form.

Manga > Anime. Because of the detail. And sometimes the art changes to bad or good when it goes to anime. Like Special A, the art got worse. No, it became bad? Or like with Ouran High School Host Club. The art was much better in anime form.
