Oh~, I wrote a long post for naught. T.T It didn't affect anybody it seems.
Anyways it seems that most judge Sasuke just superficially. They look at his actions, but not to the reasons what moved him to do so.
If you did, you can't hate him why he did the things he did.

lol i can understand why he did what he did, but it still does'nt make it right to ditch his best friend in search of power.
but since its only a manga, its not really something to get worked up about.

So revenge should justify everything that Sasuke has done? Don't be ridiculous. The reason, revenge, is a petty reason and not worth him running to Orochimaru and relying on the seal.
Like everyone else said, he goes to Orochimaru and embraces the cursed seal only because he can't stand doing hard training and has to take the easy way out. He's way too arrogant and gets jealous way too easily. He's the kind of person who never blames himself and only learns to blame others.
And how can anyone compare him to Gutts or Hannibal Lector? Gutts is uber gar and manly while Sasuke is more like SasuGay. Hannibal Lector is a mad genius who has practically planned things to a T. Sasuke just charges on through with no plan and relies on his HackedGayStrength to make his way through everything.

Again, too superficially~ >.< It's not 'just' revenge. And even if it was that, he didn't get fired from his job or something. His whole family was murdered, and then he had to re-live it again and again and again through Mangekyou Sharingan.

Actually, he blames himself quite a lot. 'If only I were stronger.' 'If only I could have stopped him.' - that's the kind of things that ran through his head at the time. And let's not forgrt that relieving the experience over and over must have left a big, permanent scar on his psyche and the sound four has dealt a finishng blow, defeating him as easily as they did. I really can't blame him for his single-mindedness.
About the hard training thing, what do you think he was doing at Orochimaru's place, then? Counting butterflies? It's pretty apparent that he's much stronger than before the time-skip now. Do you seriously thing he could achieve it by the cursed seal's power alone? And by the way, controlling it as he does takes a lot of strenght, too.

I don't believe that he's taking the easy way out at all. I think that he feels that the power he can get from the leaf village isn't enough to beat Itachi. And who wouldn't want revenge on Itachi, especially Sasuke? I think that you're judging him a bit harshly. Besides, we can still tell that he is a leaf shinobi at heart even while he was with Orochimaru. He refused to kill anyone.

Do you seriously thing he could achieve it by the cursed seal's power alone? And by the way, controlling it as he does takes a lot of strenght, too.
And when has he EVER said "If only I were stronger" or "If only I could've stopped him?" lols... all he ever did was blame his brother and swore revenge.
And getting about the getting defeated part dealing him a finishing blow... What about everybody else who gets defeated? Gaara got defeated but he came back stronger. Naruto has been defeated before, but he just trained harder. Neji got defeated by Naruto and he didn't break down. Same with Rock Lee. The only reason getting defeated got to him was because he was arrogant and expected to win every single battle without needing to try.
And it takes more strength to hold back the cursed seal in case you haven't noticed in the chapters (before he defected to Orochimaru). You can say that it was actually much easier to just give into the cursed seal. And you don't even know if controlling the cursed seal takes any strength at all. More like it seems it's easy for him to use the cursed seal...
Sasuke trained his whole life in Konoha. And when he met Itachi again, what did his training amount to? Nothing...
He wanted to be stronger in a quick and efficient way. And Orochimaru could offer that.

i just think its amazing that he thought he could stand up to him at that level
a former Anbu member, that masacred his whole clan, which was one of the strongest in the history of konoha.
imo, he was just setting himself up for disapointment when he went after them at that age.
