Another poll.

Do you support death penalty or not ? And tell your reason why.

I am against it for few reasons

1) Because there is small chance that innocent ppl get involved. We all know how corrupt humans can be. Also mistakes can happen.

2) I think killing people to show that murder is wrong is not right way to do it.

I support the death penalty.

Say if the convict really is a insane murderer why should we waste money keeping him/her in jail?

Saves space.

I'm iffy on it.. I kinda think that fact that you excute a murderer or whatever.. it's kinda giving them the easy way out.. personally, they deserve whatever they get when they drop the soap laugh okay.. sorry.. I just wanted to lighten up the mood a bit.. but.. honestly, it has it's pros and cons.. I can understand why some support it, especially when it deals with someone that has done something that effects that family.. so I can understand why they'd want the person to be punished through the death penatly.. but personally, I would if it was something that pertained to me and mine.. I wouldn't want them to get the death penatly.. I'd want them to live out their time in jail..

I kind of support it. On one hand, it's as Emeraldice says with the chances of innocent people being killed. By the time it's realized, it would be too late to undo it.

On the other hand, there are some people who are very dangerous, and there are times they escape from prison just to kill more innocent, or not so innocent people. And like Nelo says, why spend so much tax money keeping murderers alive with life-imprisonment with no chance for appeal?

Therefore, it would require a more extensive investigation and should only apply to the more extreme cases.

i vote for another alternative, commit murder, solitary confinement, lets see how many people want to commit murder when the sentence is to live 30+ years in utter silence and lack of contact with anyone.

no, I don't support the death penalty.

it's not enough,
I would support the "Absolute penalty".
One punishment for all crimes regardless of scale, death to all law breakers.

Just try breaking laws now, screw if you're innocent or not, if everyone's dead, no more crimes, laugh

but really, considering how screwed up this world is, you might be doing them a favor.

Life is as one chooses it to be. Choose at your own discretion, for every choice there is a consequence. For each chosen path there is no room for the discarded past, only the future one decided upon himself.

They've done their part in getting there, all things will follow what must, death is but a path all of us will take one day, regardless of what one's mind think of another.

I can also understand people who support it. Specially people who has lost family members to murder. I would propably want kill murderer who killed my son/daughter(if i ever have) but in the end its not gonna bring him/her back. On other hand if my son would kill person i would not want him to get executed but to live in prison...

I think I did a debate on this in the 10th grade. I forgot which side I was on.

It's like that bummper sticker I saw once, "We kill people that kill people to show that killing people is worng."
I think it was something like that.

In America it's actually more expensive to kill a prisoner than imprison him/her for life. Thanks to all the trials and retrials that are necessary, it takes something like 1.5-2 million dollars to kill someone. The figure isn't exact because I'm trying to remember it from a debate I had a long while back but it was well over a million.

Agreed.
I hate it how here in Australia they don't have it. Sometimes, I think people who commit crime WANT to get in jail. They have an awesome life in there. There's golf, computers/internet, football, BBQ (you can invite your family members and friends) etc. Taxpayers are paying for these. It's freakin' stupid! Human rights my ass. The moment they commit the crime, they lost all their rights IMO.

It definitely saves space in certain cases like in small countries such as Singapore. If the crime is huge (eg. murder) just kill 'em! laugh (lol, I sound evil), no need to waste space and pay for them to live. It's BS.

Another reason would be that it discourages crime. For example, since Australia bans capital punishment, people aren't that afraid to do crime. Hell, I'd commit a crime just to get in jail if I was a homeless person. Since you are fed, clothed, and still live life, even at a minimum (c'mon..seriously...golf for prisoners? Most normal people don't even get that luxury! -_-)

Of course there's the case of being guilty or not. But How often does that happen? o.O

Edit: Oh yeah, gosh you people are so emo nowadays. How many threads about death have been made this past few days? laugh

I support it for mass murderers. Although, Australia has no death penality since the 1960's becasue the last man hung was latter found to be innocent.

Although in the Northern Territory life means life, no hope for parole for more than 25 years and by that time they don't want to get out. Every other state is like what it is in the US, up to 25 years.

Wow this is something I've actually done, very recently.

I was on a jury over the summer and I had to decide whether the person should have the death penalty or not. I'd really rather avoid the death penalty but honestly it was a lot harder for me to decide on due to things that happened, and how the person really was when he was doing everything.

Oh, wow.. I've had jury duty a few times.. thank goodness I've never been in your position though.. it was all really minor stuff..

Against it.

By that I meant in all countries, not just where I'm at. Like in places such as Iran or Saudi Arabia where people get sentenced to death because of some minor stuff.
