I absolutely hate it when the girl agrees to anything the other person says in order to save/protect the person she loves... and I do ANYTHING [Yes, I'm talking about sex].

I don't really hate cliché because if you happen to read too many shoujo manga, these clichés made the manga predictable - which will not surprise you (most of the time) with sudden death of the main characters, for example. Like, you can foresee the girl and the guy going out in the end, rather than "OMG, she's dead? I didn't see it coming!!". But repetitive cliché will make you go, "Okay... next!!!" XD

I'm not sure whether someone has already pointed out these clichés:

1. The guy/girl said the most hurtful things to the one they love/have interest in. Or, deny that she/he has romantic feelings for that person. Like, "I don't like her/him!" or "You're mistaken, we are not going out". Predictably, the other person happens to hear all these and starts running/hiding (if it's the girl) or pretends to not hear it but pulling a face and starts giving silent treatment (if it's the guy). roll eyes

2. As a continuation of the above cliché, the person who said those hurtful things came to their senses and regretted the action. Apologizing and confessing will follow and they both will start dating.

3. The girl/guy falls off the cliff trying to get something precious which belongs to the person they like, or in a way, trying to prove that they are reliable. Usually happens during the school trip. They should have picked a much safer place. eyes

4. The girl being kidnapped by some bad guys in order to lure the guy. But previously, the girl said hurtful things (see cliché #1) and doubts that the guy will come to rescue her. But he will, anyway. LOL.

5. The girl clenches and holds her hand close to her heart, usually with tears falling down her cheeks upon the realization that she indeed, falls for the guy. The usual line – “I can’t stop these tears…”

Despite these clichés, I can't seem to stop reading shoujo/josei manga. I wonder why... laugh

worst [and somewhat overused] shoujo cliche that i hate to love would be:
playboy gets attracted to either the shyest girl or the girl that he can't get with his killer smile.
it annoys me,but if the story was well done, i still go for the plot even though i hate it.
*stories that have that:
sorry, i can't really remember any right now...my head's all fuzzy -.-
maybe Mars?

Without going into details harems, love triangles, random character showing up to ruin main couple, forced first kiss, "I like you so much so let me treat you like crap because I dont know how else to act. The more of a douchebag I am the more I love you."

Someone had probably already mentioned this but I'm going to put it anyways....

One of the shoujo cliche I hate is when the heroine falls in love for the stupidest reasons. *coughs* AAA *coughs* I mean, who falls in love with some guy because he gave her a pencil?
Also, although this manga is okay for me, Shinshi Doumei Cross is another one of those. Haine's like 'I really love the picture book this guy wrote, so now I'm going to stalk him and go to the same school!' Sure, I know some people who's been addicted to a book before, but to fall in love with the author... is going a little too far. How old was she when she read the book and confessed to Shizumasa? Wasn't she too young to think about love and all that stuff?

shoujo manhwa cliches
- boy is a rich son and experiencing difficulties with his family. usually, boy and his father do not go along well. also, boy is a leader of a gang. then he'll fall in love with an ordinary lady. the other girls ogling over him will go furious with the girl he fell in love with. he'll have a hard time expressing his love that's why it will take so many volumes before the manhwa will end. but the end is a happy ending or should i say mediocre? they just ended up together, no more or less laugh

shoujo manga cliches
- girl is head over heels over the guy. she'll confess and he'll accept it. for the reason, she's unusual. lmfao
- boy always teases girls. sometime he does mean things to her. on the other hand, girl fell in love with another guy. but later on, girl will realize that the person she likes is the boy

i'll think of some other.

1. Average looking girl meets hot bishie and gets his attention with a magical stroke of luck.

2. That bishie is a jerk and harasses average looking girl. Nevertheless, the girl falls in love with him (WTF O_O?? MASOCHISM?)

3. That bishie has a bishie best friend who ends up falling for the average-looking girl and so a love triangle forms.

4. Bishie #1 & his friend are probably opposite in nature. One is a cold-hearted guy/introverted & quiet and the other one is a jerk/really outgoing.

5. After the girl hooks up with the main bishie, all the girls in the school find out and go after average-looking girl.

6. Girl is really innocent, but the guy is pretty horny, pushing himself on the girl until eventually the girl gives in and has sex with him.
----------------(^ One large cliche-ic scenario ^)-------------------

Here are random ones:
-The guy the main girl likes and probably never talked to at all confesses that he's liked the girl from the moment he saw her (OMG!! What a coincidence!?!?)

-The guy has a dark past that causes a disruption between the couple and lots of crying. It's the ex-gf, dead or alive.

-Girl overhears the guy denying he likes the girl, despite what he probably told her before. Girl runs away crying, acts cold towards the guy. Guy gets mad, demands to know what's wrong. She tells him. She cries. Guy sets it out straight. And scene ends with them hugging.

These cliches make me want to rip my eyes out. It's so predictable and so overdone.

I find it really annoying when
- the girl falls for her childhood friend or she has two childhood friends and they both love her (having 2 childhood friends is tolerable for me only when just one of them is romantically involved with the heroine and the other is really in the background and doesn't give a damn)
- the girl is heavily molested/raped/beaten up by some guy but later all is forgotten and they're friends or even lovers (= Renai Shijou Shugi Mitsu x Mitsu DropsHaou Airen)
- a second girl tries to interfere in the relationship and the guy that's just annoyingly clueless/stupid stands up for her or doesn't believe his girlfriend, ending up hurting her
- the girl that is stalked by another girl/by other girls keeps quiet about it with the boyfriend
- the girl gives up on the boy because some cuter girl likes him and she thinks she has no chance against her
- the guy selfishly goes out with a girl even when he likes another person, then becomes weak/leaves her because his love is not unrequited or the other girl just likes to tease him, and then he realizes he has feelings for the first girl and she takes him back without a second thought.
- the main character is a fangirl without any pride that stalks her idol and would do anything for him and then is hurt when she realizes he's toying with her.

Only a really decent storyline can save shoujo with this kind of clichè

I have to say that bishie fanclub, "prince should be shared", "if you get close to the prince you will be bullied" and whatnot one is one of the worst and most laughable shoujo cliches. I don't mean the actual mangas will make me laugh or are interesting but this idea is so unexpectedly funny. In many school shoujo mangas, there is more or less this bishie idolizing thing. Some are just more exaggerated than the others and sometimes the one being idolized is a bishoujo (in an all-girl school or not) and this even appears in shounen mangas (usually not as exaggerated as in shoujo though).

-------Random school scene----------
Female student #1: Hello, XXX-sama. I baked some cookies. Shall we eat them together at noon?
Bishie (coldly): No.
Female student #1: Yay~ XXX-sama said "no" meeeee!!
Female student #2: How cunning! I want XXX-sama to talk to me too!

laugh

Another worst cliche is that guy/girl is bullied or threatened simply because he/she has more talent and excels in something, therefore affects someone else's opportunity. La Corda D'Oro (I couldn't even get through half an episode) and the Window of Orpheus (read long time ago - not a good manga IMO) both have this cliche. Do people really do this? I mean, how lame is that - there's no better way to say "I'm an idiot" than bullying or threatening others because of that.

Well, despite my username (which is long story anyway roll eyes ) I haven't read much shoujo manga at all. So I'm not really familiar with too many cliches. The whole "guy-saves-girl-from-near-sexual-assault" thing does tend to grate on my nerves just a bit though laugh

Heres more:

-Girl is labeled as plain or average but is actually the cutest character in the series. I mean as in the artist drew a very cute character but still has other characters call her average and they all look plain instead. Its like how about we actually get a average girl for once? And have her stay that way

-Secretly beautiful. All that needs to be done is let your hair down and remove your glasses.

-No glasses allowed. Whenever the main character starts out with them you can bet she will get rid of them later in the series. I only know a handful where the girl keeps them. I like glasses.

I've read a crazy amount of shoujo manga and the worst cliche is where the guy licks the girls wounds/blood. That doesn't happen. That is dangerous.

And then the female will always get really sick and the boy will take care of her. I've never met people that get sick so easily!!

My favourite cliche is when guys bully the girls they love. It's so bad but sooo cute.

Added:
I HATE When the girl is getting bullied and the guy ALWAYS shows up. I love it when they don't. <3
