LOL. It's hard to associate your dream look + your dream personality together in one girl. Having to find somebody to match the personality is already hard enough, and you want the appearance too?? You can always.... make her hair look the same. But I think that's the most you can do.

^^ 2D complexes are a scary thing XD holly crap anime is 10% better then sex.... dude... thats so true... jk hahaha kind of shocked to see the numbers on that link XD.
....that's so not true. D: But together....
If the boy wants a girl to look like an anime character 24/7 then he needs some serious help and a good beating.
Ninjas? Hahahaha Ninja Warrior...
Oh, and for the "latest crap"...we watch anime (mainly we're watching Claymore) together when it comes out, but manga we just download everything. Anime too. Downloading for manga because we're not under the illusion that buying translated stuff that's usually crap actually "supports the mangaka"... Mainly why I only import Japanese manga by $100 every birthday and Christmas. Not that that supports them either...just puts money in their publisher's pockets!

Well, i think this is all part of the fuzziness of the term "otaku" when it comes to Westerners.. That article about the divorce rates and whatnot is clearly in relation to the much more negative kind (and perhaps the real definition of the word? I wouldn't know, not living in Japan), whereas I think most of the people here in this thread calling themselves "otaku" mean it in a much more casual way; that they're really into anime/manga/etc... but, they're also in no danger of turning into Satou from NHK.
Heh, trust me.. the rest of the world is just as perverted. They just don't have manga to be open about it (some of that stuff is pretty common in the US if you watch any live-action pron, lately.. but i think it's a whole new topic on conversation.)
You win the internets. Thread over.

I definitely agree with your opinion. I use the word "otaku" as me being addicted to watching anime and reading manga but I have not gone any further like decorating my room or attending conventions (though I think that might be fun). Maybe we are using the word "otaku" in the wrong way which means this whole topic should be titled differently?

Well, in Japan, "otaku" is a derogatory name
So we westerners are using it entirely wrong, since we changed the definition

Well i basically just read and watch (mostly read) anime and manga. I dont collect figurines or posters or go to any conventions and stuff. I just want a girl that i can talk to about that stuff and not one of those that always wants to shop for clothes since i hate shopping.. To be honest personality is the most important to me, but she cant be butt ugly or have no chest and butt at all, little is fine but if there is nothing there thats no good. I just want someone that i can talk to about it and stuff. I bathe and everything normal ppl do, and im not that hardcore. Just reading and watching when i have time is enough for me.

However, "Popular Usage" is known to change the meaning of a word occasionally. That's why Webstter's And American Heritage add a few words and remove a few words from the dictionary every year.
@Deception - I'm happy to hear that you bathe.

Oh yea and it would be hard for me to find one anyways since the neighborhood i go to is full of "ghetto" kids and no offense but those short, chubby hispanic girls that have their belly flopping over their miniskirt that is SO disgusting! I just want a normal girl that shares some of my own interests and can talk about them. And no i dont have any of those weird fetishes so dont worry...
@VinceAsuma Hope u bathe as well
@ everyone hope u all bathe

How did we get to bathing?
Back to topic, to all female otakus, would you prefer a guy who is more otaku meaning that he goes to like conventions regularly and collects anime/manga/figurines ect. or a guy who just loves watching and reading manga? I guess more otaku or less otaku. Also, to all otaku guys, what would you rather have in a girl, more otaku or less otaku?
back to other topic, I shower everyday.

Hi!!!
I opened mangaupdates and this forum caught my attention basically cause i just read a one shot manga wherein the guy described himself as an otaku and there was no translation whatsoever at the bottom of the manga or a post script as you call it what an otaku is. However as i read along, i discovered that he is a guy who loves animes and reading a manga. Then i saw this forum and it says "question for female otakus" huh, so there is a female otaku, am i one of those? After reading some of the posts i basically confirmed what an otaku is and I am one myself. Love animes / mangas and manga based series.
It didn't actually cross my mind that there can be an otaku couple until now and i can say that having a relationship with a fellow otaku is beneficial. Personally, if you asked me the question posed in the poll, well my answer would be because i really didn't think about of relationship between otakus. I always said to myself that 24 hours in a day is really not enough for me what with 8 hours of working ( do overtime if I am unlucky) and then reading, downloading mangas and watching dowloading animes/series, soundtracks and stuff so how can I have time to look for a boyfriend and the fact that i don't want to waste time if the "potential"boyfriend doesn't understand the stuff i go "gaga" about. I even told my friend that I think i'm not planning on getting married cause i can't give up my passion for mangas and animes if my partner to be would not appreciate it. However because of this forum, my eyes opened that i can still have a nice relationship if its WITH an otaku, huh?!
