I'm looking for a mecha based manga or anime but hopefully anime since they are better animated.
It has to be Psychological if possible and philosophical.
I've already seen Code Geass and GunxSword.

Please don't recommend a ridiculously long manga such as The Gundam Series or unless they are really good. thanks in advance.

I definitely recommend Bokurano - the manga is only 11 volumes long, but I'm not sure whether it has an anime. The story is quite philosophical and looks deep into human nature. Don't be put off by the child protagonists; those kids are very mature.

RahXephon (the anime is really good)
and i def. second heroic age. also aquarion maybe?

Candidate for Goddess it's only five volumes long.
