Makes me sad too. My parents are loving and caring, but neither show it, at all. I don't remember a single time when I hugged my mom, I remember hugging my dad two or three times in the past 9 years. My dad's been mostly travelling since I was born. Right now, neither of them are with me, they're in a different country, so I do miss them a lot (especially when my 3 younger siblings on my head are constant reminders...lol).

india. i don't know if things changed somewhat from the past, but i am sure only parents below 20% believe in physical contact with their children. i talk, laugh etc. with my parents and my sister but we don't touch each other. my sister and friends from school all hold hands with their friends when they were children. but as we all are growing up the physical contact is forgotten. you only see expressing parents, friends or lovers in our movies. those are only entertainment so no harm to the real people or so they think. there was a article in a life style magazine that physical contact from the parents are important so that their children don't stray into some stranger's trap. maybe the future generation will turn out different.

Different countries- different perception. I think that article was about western style of life. You should follow you own tradition, you culture- you pride.
