Ignore, ignore, than keep ignoring him/her/it.
Untill they; Shut the hell up or stop being so damn annoying.

Just ignore them. You'd be surprised how fast they quit, then. o.O
Not always, though. Sometimes it eggs them on to do it more.
When I was in middle school, there was a senpai (and her friends) who liked to tease me about my clothing. (My mom made nearly all of my clothes back then, so I didn't wear designer stuff. I was happy, but apparently it wasn't good enough for her and garnered me the nickname of "Snowflake" based on the pattern of one of the shirts.) Ignoring her just made her want to tease me more. I walked a different way around to classes, she followed me to continue teasing.
My mom finally told me "Just start talking to her naturally as if you're interested in making conversation. She'll see that it doesn't bother you and lose interest in teasing you." And sure enough if it didn't happen exactly like that. I turned around and smiled and started talking one day, and they didn't bother me any more after that. Every situation is different.
My biggest turning point was when I finally snapped at someone and realized that I shouldn't EVER have to feel ashamed of my self/decisions or walk on eggshells for someone who should be a friend or peer, because if they think I ought to, then they don't care about my feelings, and it's generally a waste of my time to care about theirs. Groking that concept is what really changed my life for the better, and I wish I'd had it in high school... I would've had so much more confidence and fun then. (It hit me in college.)
As for what I do now that I'm well out of college: mostly I project the Aura of Doom, so that they don't annoy me in the first place.

ok........I just try really hard to ignore people I don't like. But you have some good advice.
"Groking", sounds like the martian word used in "A stranger in a strange land"

It's generally a bad idea to explode at someone since that basically means they won. I find just imitating the way they act till it bothers thems enough to leave you alone works well.

ah, I see someone agree with my method. So go and date them. Usually the thing end with a kiss or further. Depends on the person.

Indeed, that's exactly where it originated, though the meaning has evolved.

My specific meaning in the above post refers to the 'hacker culture' concept of grokking. (Apparently it is supposed to have 2 k's. I just saw that.)

i try to ignore people i find annoying. but then, whenever they say something idiotic (especially publicly) I point it out so they get embarassed.

yeah but that usually end bad. Either people around you start calling you mean or if you are on a forum, the moderators ban you, Either way, I think the best thing to do is to ignore.

I've learnt the fine art of similing.
Very.
Sincerely.
It often works like a charm to make a shy smile and act very uncomfortable and embarrassed. Often, you get the obnoxious person to actually apologize. I'll also try to gently point out in private, to a really stupid person, what they were doing that embarrassed (aka annoyed) me.
At worst, smile, nod, ignore, leave.

but wait, why does he act that way, anyways?
well,it always helps to ignore him.or just tell him downright to his face "i'm not f*ckin gay, aight? leave me alone you son of b*tch." and then flip him off or something.
that ways,he'll get a taste of his own medicine.
or you can also act gay and do what he does to you, make him feel what you feel :]
