Cat fights o.O oh, no,it doesn't count as a martial art, it's more like a natural catastrophy.
Also my vote goes for Krav Maga.
Altough I think I've seen more violent moves in a certain book ( author: Michael D. Echanis ). The guy was teaching how to trow a man and break him both elbow and arm bones in about 2 smoth moves some military freak, as far as I remember...

Krav Maga for me as well. Not many martial arts styles emphasize the use of the nearest suffeciently damaging object.

Of the ones I've heard of Muay Thai. Don't know anything about Krav Maga but it sounds interesting, I'll have to wiki it.

Remember the pen scene from Bourne... that was so wow. Took me a second to take in what happened.
I think I remember from the special features that they based the moves in that movie on Kali, which is a martial art from the Philippines.

full contact karate/kyokushin karate. Harsh training and when participating in matches u fight with bare fist, though hits with your fist on your opponents head are not allowed (kicks on head are allowed though, dont ask me why^^). Dislocated my left shoulder during my last fight.........

I agree with Muay Thai. I would also add Savate.

And if it is brutal you want, how bout Old Style Boxing, as in wrapping your fists with leather straps as the only thing of protection?
Yeah, there's also boxing...I watched fight science and they said the sheer force of a boxers' punch is equivalent to a sledgehammer....
Nah i say karate ...you can get hit everywhere... and boxing has rule so most part of the body won't be hit. ugh.. imagine someone punch your jewels...

I'm talking about OLD style boxing, as in Bare Knuckle boxing. Karate has more finesse than bare knuckle boxing. That and Pankration are the definitions of brutal

I practise Judo. Some people view it as a sport, some as a martial art. I see it as both.
I think all martial arts are brutal. They all have their unique styles and you can't compare different styles to one another.
The brutality also depends where you're using your martial art. If you're street fighting, there's no rules to keep you in check. You'll use any dirty method to defend yourself eg. crotch kick, eye poking, biting, strangling....Some arts are enhanced when they are used in the streets. For example, Judo could be extremely brutal when used on the street. Concrete is Judo's best friend. One throw to your opponent, you could knock them out, or purposely throw them so that their head lands on the concrete first at full force if your opponent is unprepared. You could crack their head open that way. Then, if you compare it to Judo in competitions, all dangerous moves are removed with rules, such as no grabbing around the neck area, and chokes and strangulations are only learnt when you're over 13 (in my club).
The fact that Muay Thai seems brutal is that they have use of their knees and elbows. Those body parts are deadly. A lot of martial arts nowadays have all of their dangerous moves taken out so it's safer to practise the art. Say that Judo kept their eye gouges, bone-breaking locks and killing techniques, it would be seen as something brutal.
I hope that I'm not being biased about martial arts here. I apologise for using a lot of examples from Judo! I used to practise a little karate but I don't know enough knowledge to comment about it and other sports.
EDIT: I never realised I replied to such an old thread. >.< I just felt the need to disagree with the brutality of martial arts....
