That volume bothered me too (in a good way).

Nakamura Asumiko has a talent for writing short stories that mess with my brain.

And lastly, classic shoujo/shounen-ai/shoujo-ai,
Kaze to ki no uta and Rose of Versailles at a very early age were an influence on my developing little mind ^^;

I haven't read any that extreme manga. Yet anyway.

I've read nothing of the sort. Gantz, Battle Royale, and Ichi the Killer, are violent sure (and Ichi was particularly sick). However, none of them screwed with my head. It was just violent. Saikano could be considered screwing with my head if you take into consideration that it was so f*ing depressing, but that's the most any manga has screwed with my head.

EDIT: I just remembered one manga. I was ill-advisedly looking for a manga that makes me go "WTF!!!?" a while back. And I stumbled across guro. That should say it all. The manga was Death Panda. I'm not going to link it because nobody should read it. Guro is sick. Never again will I read anything like that.
