I live near a police station so it would be pretty retarded to rob my place. I'm also surrounded by a semi-large fence and have a dog, so I think I'm safe.

In my old flat (had 3-4 flatmates) we never locked the door at night...somebody would always leave without the keys and nobody's crazy about the door bell in 3 am.

The door itself was another story, it used to open up by itself when there was windy or draft.
So I guess, if anyone wanted to break in, he wouldn't have much trouble...the only thing is, there was almost always someone inside the flat.

Relatively safe but if someone wants to break-in bad enough, I can see them getting in.

Bahaha I always think about this.
Our house gets egged but that's about it.
I'm never afraid of our house getting broken into and I usually leave the door unlocked. Make my parents hopping mad but I doubt someone would.
Plus our house is SO messy and cluttered they would get in and be like "F&^* this." and leave.
Trying to steal our tube tv could take some one half an hour. Too easy to get caught.

Plus, I live in the safety of the suburbs. Very rarely are there break ins and it is even more rare in my area.

As for protection from weather... I live in an area where we are more afraid of 20 cm of snow just in the winter then anything else.

I'm usually the last person to sleep, so I go around and lock all the doors at night. I highly thought we'll get robbed though... lol. The neighborhood is too "friendly"; it kinda borders creepy at some point... Plus, there's a guy with mustang gt, s2000, and camero down the street. He'll be the first to get robbed in my opinion, lol.

As I always say, no place is ever "safe". Unless you're on a deserted island, then maaaybe... Anyways, yeah my neighborhood is quite safe. Every so often, we'll maybe only have about 1 or 2 weirdos come around. No crooks, thiefs, burglers, drug dealers, gang members, etc. around here. smile

Not at all! About two days ago I heard gunshots (again) but this time really close by and me and my sis jumped out of our beds and ran for our parents room faster than probably a cheeta (ok yea 16 and I should be mature about this but I was freaked out!). No our house is not safe. We have many windows and our main door's lock is kinda faulty. I blame the wanna-be gangster Hispanic families that live around us. They should take their brawls somewhere else and not involve innocent people. Morons. Sorry felt like ranting.

I live near Detroit, mi (which if you do not know is a very bad area, lots of guns, drugs, stupid people etc), i just live in the more white part of the area, i always keep my door locked so i feel safe but safety is a state of denial, even if my home had an alarm system or a ton of theft prevention crap I've still heard of people with that stuff getting robbed, happens all the time matter of fact, a cousin of mine had his whole house rigged with alarms then went on a vacation and came back and they had cut the hinges off the door and walked right in and somehow none of the alarms went off, his house got gutted completely copper piping and all, my house is less rigged and these stories make me seriously doubt anyone is truly safe (unless u go all Tupac Shakir and camp out at the window with an AK, but... he did end up dead)

environmentally my house is safe I live in a hilly area which cuts down on speeding, trees in the front yard blocking view into the house fenced backyard motion detected light in the driveway and somewhat well-lit streets(learned what aspects to look for in criminal justice). Besides the worst thing in my neighborhood are white pretending to be black teens who get intimidated by my 110lb rottweiler so I'm covered as far as the kids in my neighborhood go. If someone from out of town decides to break in besides having to worst luck in the world I have a contingency plan for that very occasion.

Spoiler (highlight to view)
I'll kill him, feed him to my dog, and bury the rest of him in the woods no one jeopardizes my family

lucky me I don't have all these problems that some other people have @solovolk I was in Detroit one time and my friend had his car dismantled the funniest part was we were only gone for like a couple hours and it was a sh*tty car.
