Call it whatever you will; social networking site, statistics or just plain useless. Me, I use it to get good recommendations for listening and I've found many bands that I've enjoyed listening to through it. You kind of have to listen to a lot of music though to give it a good base.

So! If you haven't, try! And if you have, post your profile. smile

Actually I've come close to quitting it a few times... It's just been such a waste of time going there several times a day, and some times being overly concerned with which band and song to listen to next in order to keep the stats a certain way. But it's still a good place to go check out a band you might see mentioned somewhere to get an idea of what they're about.

Nope, I prefer the good ole ask-and-youtube while looking for new bands. Plus I don't like the idea of having stats of what I listen to -___-''. Music is music, and that thing feel like showing off with what you listen to...imo, no offense smile

Yeah if you set up your plugin with the username and login you registered on the site.

@ ahoaho:
you download a plugin for the media player you use to listen to music and it reports to the site what you listen to, it does that as you play the song it doesn't scan your folders, and then it periodically calculates stuff from it, compares users and gives you recommendations based on that. You can view other users what they listen to, which users have similar tastes as you, and you can create groups and forums. A lot of artists have sample bits of their songs up and some even have whole songs available for listening off the site.

Sounds good, but I have and listen to so much variety in my music that nowadays, It's rare for me to get more than 30 plays for a particular song.

Well hey 30 plays for one song is a lot for me too, I just checked my iTunes playlist and I have one song I've played 29 times since October last year and that's the highest on my playlist. The ones that last.fm has registered you can see in the Top Tracks Overall list that's lower down in my profile, I reset my stats Dec 3rd last year and by now my #1 on that list has played 19 times...
