It's better to go straight fot the novel, manga ends at 2nd arc. Enough to understand what kind of story it is, but not to stand on it's own. I rated it high because I see it more as a promo material for novel, in which case it works well.

Feels like the ending was kind of abrupt and left too many things unexplained. I'm curious to see if the novel has more substance, but unfortunately, it does not appear to be fully translated so i won't be picking it up.

Well, it is the setting of the bright lazy guy. I think his laziness is on purpose so dont be mistaken or confused by it, probably the story will get messed up politically and he will have to pick up the pace.

The only thing that annoys me is the "love hina" setting of the guy being hit by the girl every time he does something (be it warranted or unwarranted), the good thing is that there are times when the guy wont allow it.

Give it a try, at least it will be an interesting read.

i dunno why some people dislike this. i think it's pretty good.
as a super lazy person, i can totally relate to this protagonist. yes, i think i found my hero now lol.
how about his adultery? well, i can imagine there's a good reason for that but for now, i just consider it as variations. knowing this faulty protagonist is refreshing rather than knowing perfect protagonist........ or just sad boys as protagonists. that's totally...... meh. and boring.
the story is pretty realistic. well, not entirely but there's truth in there. heroes in war are mostly doomed after all, sooner or later.
and tbh, i prefer that lead female character as for now. i will be disappointed if she falls for the protagonist. nah, i don't need another harem thank you very much. let them be friend and no more.

After a second attempt to read this series, my opinion has been solidified that this just isn't for me. Ten chapters in it's revealed that the character whom annoys me the most, the brilliant yet lazy tactician, ... Was that necessary for the story? Maybe, but to me it feels cheap and distasteful.

Nope, great_k surely didn't bother to read more than a few pages. There is more to the characters, especially the mc, which is clearly shown in the first 7 chapters. I won't rate it yet, but it has great artwork coupled with an interesting mc. One of the few manga that make me want to read the novel. We'll see if it can hold the current level.

great k... I am almost certain you didn't bother to even finish chapter 1 before you write that comment. The manga is actually one of the better ones currently out there. It has VERY good artwork and interesting story that hasn't been yet fully revealed. Every one is entitled to their opinion but...seriously? 1 out 10? There is no way this manga deserves that...at the very least it gets points for the artwork.

good art & no secondary character insulting or harming the main male character for trying to pickup girls, this is sooo refreshing maybe enough to give it a try' vote new category "Ungay male lead" straight doesn't make it justice comparing to others protagonist.

Looks like its adapted from a series about a lazy but secretly brilliant tactician.
Of-course the manga adaptation pushes the female ally as the strong female lead main character with a overused story line of coming from a prestigious house and having to prove herself.
Male character becomes support role.
Typical of the reason of why I hate most modern anime and manga series these days.
